‘I worked with Connor Barron, he was best Rangers player before Ibrox injury’
Barry Ferguson believes Connor Barron was the best Rangers player this season before picking up an injury at Ibrox.
The Gers icon worked with the Scottish midfielder in Govan during his interim spell in charge at Govan and was extremely impressed with him.
Ferguson has hailed the 23-year-old’s desire to learn during his time in the Light Blues’ dugout and get better.
The former Aberdeen youngster was a key player for Danny Rohl at the Glaswegian outfit before being sidelined in January, but he may return soon.

Danny Rohl has Connor Barron headache after what’s happened at Rangers
Rohl was heavily backed by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises in the winter transfer window, with Tuur Rommens, Tochi Chukwuani, Andreas Skov Olsen and Ryan Naderi signed.
The former Sturm Graz midfielder has stood out with his recent performances and has formed a good partnership with Nicolas Raskin at Ibrox.
When Barron does eventually return to action, the German manager will need to find a way to fit him into the starting lineup.
The Scotland international could be a pivotal player in the final stretch of the season for the Glaswegian outfit as they look to catch Hearts at the top of the table.
Barron’s inclusion in the team may lead to Chukwuani or Raskin being dropped to the bench, and it will be interesting to see how Rohl handles the situation.
Speaking on Five Stars VIP on 3 March, Ferguson said, “I worked with him for three months and brilliant attitude. It’s what you want in a younger player. He’s not a kid anymore but he’s a young player, he was a sponge, he was desperate to learn. And I just thought before he got injured, he was Rangers’ best player. He was really dominating the middle of the pitch.”

What has Danny Rohl said about Connor Barron injury return at Ibrox?
Barron was expected to be out for around three months after picking up a knee injury against Aberdeen in the Gers’ 2-0 win on 6 January.
Speaking to the media on 20 February, Rohl gave an update on the midfielder’s situation and said, “I think next week he could be part of the training session. Yeah, he looks good, he pushed, hopefully he puts everything in now and maybe in two weeks [he could be back] as well.”
It will be interesting to see whether the Scottish star will be fit enough to feature for the Light Blues in the Old Firm derby on 8 March in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup’s quarter final.
Barron’s return seems imminent and it will undoubtedly be a big boost for the German manager.
