Nicolas Raskin faces Rangers axe vs Celtic, stats from latest draw should worry Danny Rohl
Nicolas Raskin’s place in the starting 11 for Rangers’ clash with Celtic this weekend could be in doubt.
Despite going 2-0 up, Rangers were forced to settle for a point at home to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
Youssef Chermiti looked set to be the talking point of the weekend after his two goals, but that was instead focused on John Beaton and his decision to award a penalty after Dujon Sterling was judged to have deflected a goal-bound effort with his arm.
However, there were several other topics of conversation to emerge from the latest Old Firm, with another in regard to Raskin‘s performance, and not in a positive way.
Nicolas Raskin falters in latest Rangers setback
Raskin has been one of Rangers’ best players over the last 12 months, even through some of their most difficult scenarios.
However, his form as of late has been a worry, and that was only amplified in their draw with Celtic at Ibrox.
The Belgian midfielder struggled to get to grips with the game, and just generally failed to have the usual influence you would expect from someone of his quality.
And those concerns are demonstrated by his Sofascore graphic below, which highlights the fact that he completed just 66 per cent of his 29 attempted passes, as well as just one of his four attempted long balls.

Raskin also struggled with the physical side of the game, having lost half of his defensive duels, making just one tackle and an interception, and failing to create a single chance.

Who could replace Raskin vs Celtic?
The two Scottish giants are set to face off against each other again at Ibrox this weekend, this time in the Scottish Cup.
And given the title race, there is every chance that both Danny Rohl and Martin O’Neill make changes, and one that could be made for the Light Blues would be Mohamed Diomande to replace Raskin.
The Ivorian has showcased the energy he brings to the table whenever he plays, and that will be needed, especially given that the momentum will be with Celtic after their latest comeback.
Diomande has played just 36 minutes across the last three encounters, but could be in line for the full 90 at Ibrox this weekend.
