Jack Butland not happy with Rangers teammates after wonder moment vs Celtic
Jack Butland must surely be raging at his Rangers teammates after Reo Hatate scored for Celtic in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.
The Hoops were awarded a penalty at Ibrox on 1 March in the dying minutes of the game after Dujon Sterling’s handball, with the English goalkeeper saving the spot kick and the rebound before the Japan international scored in his third attempt.
Andy Halliday believes the 32-year-old will likely be unhappy with the Gers players not closing down the ball quickly enough after his initial saves.
The Motherwell star feels the Govan side’s players weren’t practicable enough to clear the ball, with their Old Firm rivals showing more desire in that moment.
Danny Rohl to blame after Rangers draw vs Celtic
Danny Rohl was unable to manage the game after a brilliant first half from the Gers saw them dominate Celtic.
Instead of building on the performance, the Light Blues capitulated as Martin O’Neill brought on Sebastian Tounekti and Hatate at the break.
Kieran Tierney got one goal back for the visitors at around the hour mark, and the game at Ibrox had a draw written all over it from then on.
The veteran Northern Irishman outmanoeuvred the German manager, and fans in G51 will surely be concerned about their team’s inability to handle adversity.
Butland and Chermiti are the two players who can keep their heads held high after the 2-2 draw, but the former Sheffield Wednesday boss has to take the blame for a poor second-half display.
Speaking on BBC Sportscene on 1 March, Halliday said, “Butland must be absolutely fuming because there are two or three Celtic players reacting to it to try and put it in, but Rangers players don’t have the same desire to go and stop it. To make two wonder saves in the dying embers of the game, and Hatate being given a third opportunity. He must be raging.”
Danny Rohl missed the trick after Ibrox snub vs Celtic
While many fans wanted to see Sterling in the starting lineup against Celtic, it was clear that the right-back was struggling in the second half.
The Englishman had only just returned from another short injury lay-off and shouldn’t have played past the hour mark.

At that moment, with Rangers still in the lead, James Tavernier was arguably the perfect person to replace Sterling and bring a bit more quality in the final third.
The club captain has been the Govan side’s biggest attacking threat this season, and Rohl certainly made an error by not turning to him in the Old Firm derby.
