Youssef Chermiti stuns with Scott McTominay-esque moment for Rangers vs Celtic
Viljami Sinisalo could do nothing as Youssef Chermiti scored an overhead kick for Rangers against Celtic on Sunday.
The Hoops’ goalkeeper was rooted to his spot at Ibrox on 1 March as the Portuguese striker found the back of the net in the eighth minute for the Gers.
Andy Halliday couldn’t believe what he saw the centre-forward do as he got nine feet above ground to pull off a magnificent striker off of Andreas Skov Olsen’s cross.
It reminded the Motherwell star of Scott McTominay’s goal against Denmark in Scotland’s 4-2 win over Denmark in the World Cup qualifiers on 18 November.
Danny Rohl listens to Rangers fans with starting lineup vs Celtic
Rohl made two changes to the Gers’ starting lineup, dropping James Tavernier and Djeidi Gassama to the bench.
Many fans have wanted to see Dujon Sterling start over the 34-year-old captain, and he looks fit enough to start at Ibrox.
There were also demands from a section of the fanbase for Ryan Naderi’s inclusion in the team alongside Chermiti, and the German manager hasn’t disappointed.
The Light Blues arguably look better playing two up top, and they got their reward almost immediately against Celtic.
Chermiti had his best game for the Glaswegian outfit playing alongside Naderi in the 4-2 win over Hearts at home, and fans in G51 will hope for the same again, with the striker already scoring a brace before the break.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Halliday said, “I can’t believe what I’ve just watched. Think of Scott McTominay against Denmark. Skov Olsen dinks a lovely ball with his right foot into the box. Chermiti gets about nine feet above ground and overhead kick past Sinisalo. What a goal. What a start for Rangers.”
Ibrox faithful have another gem to count on vs Celtic
Mikey Moore looked threatening in the first half against Celtic, getting past opposition players with ease at times.
The Tottenham loanee’s dribbling skills have helped Rangers create a few opportunities at Ibrox, with the second half surely perfectly set up for the hosts to do more damage.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Light Blues try to extend the 18-year-old’s stay at the club beyond the current campaign.
It looks like the tide is shifting in Glasgow, and Rohl has the opportunity to make history this season.
