Ross McCormack makes Tuur Rommens point in latest Rangers vs Celtic prediction
Rangers have enough quality to beat Celtic in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.
Former Gers forward Ross McCormack believes the Hoops don’t have players anywhere near the standard of Tuur Rommens, who moved to the Light Blues in the winter transfer window from Westerlo.
The left-back has been branded a top-class signing for the Govan side and may prove to be the difference maker at Ibrox on 1 March.
Danny Rohl deserves immense credit for turning things around immediately after replacing Russell Martin, and the mid-season arrivals have only improved the squad in G51.
Danny Rohl given Jayden Meghoma headache by Tuur Rommens at Rangers
Jayden Meghoma has been a key player for the Gers this season, putting in some brilliant performances since his loan move from Brentford.
The left-back has been one of the few summer signings the Ibrox faithful have been content with, scoring one goal and providing six assists in all competitions this season.
Despite the 19-year-old catching the eyes of many fans in Govan, he’s stayed on the bench in the last two league games for the Light Blues.
Rommens has firmly carved out his place in Rohl’s starting lineup with his exceptional displays, leaving the German manager with arguably a difficult decision to make about Meghoma.
The Belgium Under-21 international will surely be hoping to keep his place for the Old Firm derby, with the 22-year-old already becoming a fan favourite in G51.
Speaking to the Daily Record on 1 March, McCormack said, “Rohl came in as manager when the Martin experiment had to be brought to an end at Ibrox. The first thing he did was stop the bleeding, and then he brought in top-class signings like Rommens, someone I like very much. Celtic don’t have players near that standard, and that’s why I think Rangers will win.”
James Tavernier looking over should as Old Firm derby place in jeopardy
James Tavernier has been the biggest attacking threat for the Gers this season, scoring 13 goals in all competitions.
While the right-back has been a creative force in the final third, fans have often been left underwhelmed by his defensive contribution.

As a result, many supporters would surely prefer Dujon Sterling in the starting lineup over the Light Blues’ captain, but it remains to be seen whether the 26-year-old is fit enough.
Rohl revealed in his pre-match press conference that the former Chelsea ace had returned to training, but wasn’t sure whether he would be ready for Celtic’s trip to Ibrox.
