Rangers chief speaks out as Kyle Glasgow announcement made

Kyle Glasgow has committed his future to Rangers.

Glasgow was linked with a move away from Ibrox, however, he now has agreed fresh terms with the Govan club.

Rangers announced on 27 February that the 16-year-old has signed his first professional contract to remain at Auchenhowie for the foreseeable future.

Danny Rohl has already utilised the youngster in first-team training, and it appears that has convinced him to extend his stay with his boyhood club.

What do Rangers feel about new contract for Glasgow?

It seems that the Gers are really excited to have tied down one of their most promising talents.

Interim Head of the Light Blues’ Academy, David McCallum revealed his feelings on the new deal for the promising attacker.

Speaking to the official club website, he said: “We are delighted that Kyle has signed his first professional contract with Rangers.

“I’m sure it is a proud moment for him and his family, and it is a reward for the hard work and dedication he has shown throughout his time in the Academy.

“Kyle has earned this opportunity through his commitment every day he comes into the Rangers Training Centre, and he displays a real maturity and hunger to learn and develop as an individual.

“Today is always an important milestone in a young player’s career, but Kyle knows there is still a lot of hard work ahead of him, and he will be supported every step of the way, both on and off the pitch, by the support staff at the club.”

McCallum’s comments should be very encouraging, as they show how highly he is rated by those involved in the academy at Auchenhowie.

Who is Rangers starlet Glasgow?

Glasgow has gained significant hype in recent years, due to his performances in the youth ranks in Govan.

He is a regular goalscorer for the academy sides, scoring 15 times this season in appearances across the Under-19s and Under-17s.

He made headlines in the last two editions of the Alkass International Cup in Qatar, especially when scoring a 25-yard volley against Mohamed VI Academy in February 2025.

He was also handed the Best Player award in the goalless draw with Etoile Sportive du Sahel in January of this year.

He faces an international tug of war for his services, having played for Scotland at the Under-17 level and also received his first Portugal Under-16 cap against Italy in December.

He reportedly had interest from Premier League clubs to try and take him away from the Bears, but he has now ended any speculation over his future by putting pen to paper with the Glasgow side.

It appears that Rohl and Co have managed to convince him that there is a pathway to the senior side, and that his future remains in the city that he shares a name with.

Now, it is on Glasgow to prove why the club rate him so highly, and forge his way into the first-team.
