Rydnn McGuire produces another Rangers masterclass vs Celtic, but it could come at a cost

Rydnn McGuire has become one of Rangers’ most talented youngsters.

The goalkeeper was targeted by Arsenal in the summer transfer window in what would have been a seven-figure deal.

Although nothing came of that interest, the likes of Everton, Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton are all among those monitoring his performances in Govan.

And it could lead to bad news for the Ibrox outfit as he produced another scintillating display against Celtic on Tuesday, which will definitely ramp up the interest from several English clubs.

Rydnn McGuire shines in U19 Glasgow Cup vs Celtic

In Tuesday’s Glasgow Cup game against Celtic, it’s safe to say that McGuire was the star of the show.

The 17-year-old goalkeeper kept a clean sheet before the match went to penalties, which is when he really stepped up.

He saved three spot-kicks in the shootout, and this latest achievement is hardly something out of the ordinary for the Scotland U19 international.

McGuire has trained with the Rangers first team on several occasions, as well as being included in multiple matchday squads.

He has been incredibly impressive at youth level, and the performance versus Celtic was just another sign that he is destined for the very top.

However, this could come at a huge cost for Rangers, as they are desperate to keep one of their most prized assets.

Rangers’ hand may be forced on McGuire in the summer

With the youngster still having 18 months left on his contract, and given the fact he is wanted by multiple clubs, it is not unreasonable to think an offer could come in for him this summer.

Especially after his heroics on Tuesday, more clubs will be tempted to place an offer for him in the summer.

McGuire may feel that a move to a Premier League side could be hugely beneficial for his development, and that would leave the Bears fairly powerless.

It would be disheartening to see him leave before making an impact for the first team, but if he continues to excel, then that unfortunately could be the case.
