Danny Rohl to sacrifice Andreas Skov Olsen or Mikey Moore in Rangers vs Celtic

Rangers fans will have their eyes on Danny Rohl’s starting lineup to face Celtic in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.

Ibrox will host the Old Firm derby on 1 March, with the Gers and Hoops looking to bounce back after dropping points in the league.

Rohl had to ask the Light Blues to dig deep to secure a 2-2 draw against Livingston at Almondvale Stadium, with Mikey Moore playing a pivotal role.

Andreas Skov Olsen started in West Lothian, but the Denmark international was hooked off at half-time, and the German manager may need to change his position to get the best out of him.

Andy Halliday doesn’t think Skov Olsen is the type of player who can take on defenders in one-on-one situations.

Against Livi, the 26-year-old created one big chance, completed three key passes and had a 92 per cent passing accuracy, as per Sofascore.

In the Danish forward’s 45 minutes on the pitch, he spent a lot of time out wide on the right-wing, with two progressive carries and losing the ball six times.

Skov Olsen often opted to come inside and create things on several occasions, which shows what he prefers to do on the ball.

Speaking on Open Goal on 24 February, Halliday said, “I just thought he was the type of winger he’s not. I thought he was a one-on-one winger. Every time you watch him, and he gets in a one-on-one situation, he wants to come in and play. I don’t know if the positions he took on the weekend suit him because when he got the ball, it was one-on-one situations out wide.”

Instead of playing the Wolfsburg loanee on the wings, he may be better suited to the number 10 position, but it remains to be seen whether Rohl will opt to do that in the upcoming matches.

Danny Rohl would be foolish to drop Mikey Moore at Ibrox

Moore was the protagonist for the Gers’ comeback at Almondvale Stadium, scoring the equaliser in the 88th minute.

The Tottenham loanee mostly played in the central areas for Rangers against Livingston, creating one big chance, completing five key passes and registering three shots on target.

There are certain aspects the 18-year-old can definitely improve on after failing to complete any of his two dribbles, losing possession 12 times and winning just one of his five duels.

To fit Skov Olsen into the number 10 position, Rohl may have to find a new role for Moore or sacrifice him, which would surely be ill-advised considering the youngster’s displays of late.
