Derek McInnes next job already lined up in latest Rangers reveal

Scotland could potentially beat Rangers to appointing Hearts manager Derek McInnes as their new head coach.

Keith Jackson shared in the Daily Record on 23 February that if the Gers don’t go knocking on the former Kilmarnock boss’ door, the Tartan Army may do so.

McInnes was in contention to take over the Scotland before Steve Clarke was given the job, but the 62-year-old head coach is expected to leave after the 2026 World Cup.

Jackson has suggested that Ian Maxwell, the national team’s chief executive, could possibly reach out to the Hearts manager if the Tartan Army need a new manager after the summer tournament in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises will surely baffle with Danny Rohl decision

Danny Rohl was appointed the Gers boss midway through the season after a disastrous start in G51 under Russell Martin.

Since then, the Light Blues have seen a massive turnaround in their form, especially in the league, reigniting hopes of winning the William Hill Premiership title at Ibrox.

What once looked impossible for many supporters is now seen as realistic, and despite the Glaswegian outfit dropping two points against Livingston on 22 February at Almondvale Stadium in the 2-2 draw, there’s still only four points between them and Hearts.

Considering what the German manager has been able to achieve since arriving in Govan, it would make absolutely no sense for Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises to replace him with McInnes at the end of the season, even if the Jam Tarts win the league title.

Writing in the Daily Record, Jackson said, “But if Clarke follows through with his original intention to call it a day when the tournament is over, then it stands to reason that chief executive Ian Maxwell will be rapidly reaching for his mobile phone. It was Maxwell, after all, who headed up Clarke’s appointment and who held similar conversations with McInnes before confirming his decision.

“If anything, McInnes is a stronger, better-qualified and an even more obvious candidate than he was back then. So if Rangers aren’t ready to go bashing down his door this summer, then Maxwell might beat them to it.”

Danny Rohl let down by one particular player vs Livingston

Rohl has been criticised for some of his team selections in recent weeks, but the German manager’s decisions have mostly paid off.

Youssef Chermiti made many of his critics eat their words after a hat-trick against Hearts at Ibrox, but the striker was back to his worst in West Lothian for Rangers.

The former Sheffield Wednesday boss has shown immense faith in the Portugal Under-21 international, but he’s clearly unreliable.

After Chermiti’s performancein the 2-2 draw with Livingston, all the goodwill he had managed at Ibrox has surely been washed away by an anonymous display at Almondvale.
