Danny Rohl in line for end-of-season accolade after Rangers development at Ibrox
Danny Rohl should be the manager of the year if Rangers win the William Hill Premiership this season.
Chris Jack believes that the German boss should be the Scottish Football Writers’ Association’s pick for the best head coach after turning the tide at the Gers.
Russell Martin was tasked with steering the Light Blues into a new era under the ownership of Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, but the former Southampton manager didn’t last long.
Rohl came into the Glaswegian outfit at a time when many fans had lost any hope of winning the league title, but they are now in the race for it.

Rangers title run to be undone after Danny Rohl failure
Rohl deserves huge credit for bringing the Gers back from the brink of disaster after one of their worst starts to the season under Martin.
The German manager has brought stability and consistency back to Ibrox, with the Light Blues losing just one of their 20 league games under the former Sheffield Wednesday boss.
Despite the many positives, supporters have had a few criticisms of Rohl, with the Glaswegian outfit drawing their last three away games.
Speaking on The Rangers Review on 23 February, Jack said, “If Rangers win the league, I think Rohl is manager of the year, given what he inherited and the situation he walked into.”
Fans in G51 are also unhappy with some of the decisions the 36-year-old has made with his team selection in recent weeks, changing formations week after week.
While Youssef Chermiti shut down his critics with his hat-trick against Hearts, the 21-year-old centre-forward was once again anonymous in the 2-2 draw with Livingston on 22 February.
Danny Rohl must show courage with starting XI vs Celtic
John Souttar was handed a new contract at Ibrox, keeping him at the Gers until May 2027.
It’s clear that Rohl values the quality and experience of the Scotland international, but the centre-back was woeful at Almondvale Stadium for Rangers.
The 29-year-old hasn’t been at his best this season, with persistent fitness issues clearly affecting his performances.
It will be interesting to see whether Rohl will drop Souttar from the starting lineup for Celtic’s trip to Ibrox on 1 March, with Nasser Djiga the likely replacement for him.
