Danny Rohl could take drastic John Souttar action after dreadful Rangers scenes

John Souttar could be hooked at half-time after a shocking showing against Livingston on Sunday.

The Gers go in at the break 1-0 down to Livi after a stunning strike from Brooklyn Kabongolo gave the hosts the lead.

There has been little positivity to speak of for Danny Rohl’s side at Almondvale Stadium as Marvin Bartley have shut out the away side hugely well.

Mikey Moore was denied by Jerome Prior, who has made five saves within 45 minutes to keep his clean sheet intact.

The Light Blues may have dominated possession, but that doesn’t take away from the shocker Souttar is having away from Ibrox.

John Souttar must come off at HT vs Livingston

The Scotland international signed a new deal in Govan this week, and that news was met with some positivity after some better recent performances.

He may have an error in him, but at 29 is one of the most experienced players within the squad alongside the likes of Jack Butland and James Tavernier.

That didn’t seem to make any sort of impact against Livingston, with the centre-back really struggling to deal with Lewis Smith and Robbie Muirhead throughout the first half.

The latter has caused particular problems with the striker getting one shot away while creating two chances for his teammates.

Souttar hasn’t known what to do with the number nine, who has sat on the Rangers defender and picked him as the weak link in the back.

He isn’t wrong in that thinking, and it has really worked out throughout the opening 45 minutes, and now Rohl must act.

Who should replace Souttar for Rangers?

There are plenty of defensive options on the bench for the German head coach to pick from if he looks to get the centre-back off the pitch.

Nasser Djiga is the only true positional replacement available as a substitute, but with the Gers chasing a lead, they could look to go all out in the second half.

Rangers substitutes vs Livingston

Jayden Meghoma or Max Aarons could come on to replace the Scot, then Tavernier could feature as a centre-half, who can then get forward when needed.

That could make all the difference against Livingston, especially as they look to shut up shop across the next 45 minutes of action.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Rohl does and whether he can make the correct changes to win the game for the Light Blues.
