Nicolas Raskin multi-million-pound release clause guaranteed after Rangers contract latest

Rangers are looking to pull off an evidently ambitious move to tie Nicolas Raskin down to a new contract.

The midfielder’s current deal at the Gers expires in 2028, and he is arguably one of the best players at Danny Rohl’s disposal.

Raskin’s future is now on the agenda at Ibrox, with the Light Blues planning to open talks with the Belgium international and reward him with improved terms.

After a stellar 2024-25 campaign with the Glaswegian outfit, the 24-year-old has gone on to establish himself as a regular for his national side in recent months, with one eye on the 2026 World Cup.

Nicolas Raskin to surely demand release clause in new Rangers contract

Raskin has been one of the best players in Scotland for some time now, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see top teams vying for his signature in the summer.

The Belgian star may also have a chance to shine for Rudi Garcia’s team at the World Cup, drawing more eyes to his performances.

Tottenham are one of the teams down south linked with a move for Raskin, and the midfielder will undoubtedly have ambitions about taking the next steps in his career sooner rather than later.

A lot of fans thought the former Standard Liege ace would leave the Light Blues last summer after his falling out with Russell Martin, but it was the Scottish manager who was shown the exit door at Ibrox just a few months into the campaign.

With a couple of years still left on the Belgium international’s contract at the Glaswegian outfit, he’ll surely want any new deal to include a release clause, which could potentially be a multi-million-pound one.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises set for hefty Ibrox profit in summer

With a significant release clause in any new contract for Raskin likely to be guaranteed, the Gers could possibly make a hefty profit if it’s triggered in the summer.

Rangers paid Standard Liege £1.5million in January 2023 to sign the Belgian star, who now looks set to bring in a potential eight-figure sum at Ibrox with his sale.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 20 February, Barry Ferguson said, “It’ll be interesting to see if this is true, but I do believe there will be interest in the summer in Nico.”

The Glaswegian outfit would be wise to take cognisance of the anticipatory interest in Raskin and reach an agreement that yields the greatest profit for Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, to reinvest in Rohl’s squad.
