Livingston vs Rangers preview: Team news, lineups and prediction

Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action with an away trip to Livingston on Sunday.

Rohl has been fantastic since he arrived in Govan on 20 October, with last weekend’s 4-2 win over Hearts at Ibrox further boosting Rangers’ title hopes.

The Bears can’t afford to lose any ground on the league leaders by dropping points to Livingston, with just three points separating Hearts, Rangers and Celtic at the top.

Marvin Bartley is still searching for his first win as Livingston manager, and it must come soon as his side are sat the bottom of the table and are destined for relegation.

Preview

There is huge optimism around Govan that they could win the league for the first time since 2020-21 and the momentum is currently on their side.

Rangers haven’t lost a league game in 2026, and Rohl has outperformed all of his managerial counterparts in Scotland since his arrival.

Having already played Hearts and Motherwell three times this campaign, the Bears have a relatively straightforward run of games before the Scottish Premiership splits into two.

Livingston come into the clash on a 25-match winless run in the league, with their only win of the season coming on 9 August against Falkirk.

It’s clear that they won’t give up their hopes of staying in the Scottish Premiership, but it seems to be only a matter of time before they are relegated.

Form guide

Livingston (last six games all comps): D L L L L D

Rangers (last six games all comps): W D W W D L

Head-to-head

Both games between the teams this season ended 2-1 to Rangers, but a lot has changed since their last meeting on 22 November.

Mohamed Diomande scored a late winner on that day, while Max Aarons netted a 94th-minute goal on 28 September to secure Russell Martin’s only league win for the Glaswegian outfit.

It’s been 23 games since the Bears last suffered a defeat to Livi, with Dolly Menga scoring the only goal of the game in September 2018.

Their head-to-head record shows that in the previous 33 meetings, Livingston have won twice, Rangers have emerged victorious 26 times and five games have ended in a draw.

Team news and predicted lineups

The depth in Rangers’ squad means Rohl will always have capable replacements for any injured players.

Bailey Rice, Derek Cornelius, Max Aarons and Connor Barron are all confirmed absentees, while Rohl said on Friday that some players were not available, although he did not specifically name them.

Djeidi Gassama could come into the team for Andreas Skov Olsen after his brilliant assist against Hearts, while John Souttar could make way for Nasser Djiga after some of his mistakes in recent weeks.

As for Livingston, Aidan Denholm and Connor McLennan are the only players who won’t be available on Sunday.

Rangers predicted lineup vs Livingston.

Livingston predicted XI: Prior; McGowan, Kabongolo, Wilson; Tait, Finlayson, Danso, Pittman, Smith; Muirhead, May

Rangers predicted XI: Butland; Tavernier, Djiga, Fernandez, Rommens; Raskin, Chukwuani; Moore, Naderi, Chermiti, Gassama

Prediction: Livingston 0-3 Rangers

Rangers are on a roll at the moment, and last week’s win over the Jambos has cemented them as a team that is serious about winning the title.

Therefore, failing to beat Livingston would be unforgivable, but that just doesn’t look like happening at the moment.

This is Rangers’ easiest game left of the season, and they have the firepower in attack to punish the hosts.

It will probably be a high-scoring affair, and the likes of Ryan Naderi and Youssef Chermiti will be licking their lips at the prospect of adding to their goal tallies.
