Ibrox chiefs line-up Nicolas Raskin deal as fresh Rangers talks on the cards
Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin was the subject of heavy exit speculation in the winter transfer market.
Turkish side Besiktas were interested in Rangers‘ prized asset, and Premier League clubs have also emerged as a potential destination.
However, he has emerged as a key asset for Danny Rohl as the Ibrox side chase the Scottish Premiership title.
The Belgian international looks set to be rewarded, with the Daily Record reporting on 20 February that Ibrox chiefs are ready to open talks with Raskin over a new contract.
Rangers ready talks with Raskin as bumper contract on cards
Raskin was under contract with the Light Blues until 2027, but the Bears took up an option to extend that until 2028.
However, the report claims that the Gers want to offer him a lucrative deal that will keep him around for even longer and are set to open talks.
It states that the decision makers at the club want to put the nine-cap international among the club’s highest earners.

Scottish football analyst John Walker labelled Raskin as “phenomenal” in an interview with BBC in January 2025, saying: “He is phenomenal, I think he improves everyone around him.”
Why Rangers are set to win either way with new Raskin deal
The Gers will benefit from a new deal for their star midfield no matter how they feel about his long-term future.
If he sticks around, then he will contribute for years to come and has justified the age increase that he looks set to be given, with the potential to play a key part in adding more trophies to the Light Blues’ cabinet.
However, if they decide to sell him, then his value is increased massively because he is contracted for more time and at a higher wage.
Therefore, it is a win-win situation for the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh, if they can tie down one of their best assets to a bumper new contract in the near future.
It will be to the delight of Gers fans everywhere that Raskin looks set to stay put, but they will also be safe in the knowledge that if he does depart, their club will receive a hefty fee for the 24-year-old.
It should help to ward off any interest, and shows that the G51 outfit are going in the right direction, but if the unthinkable happens and he pushes to leave, they will be compensated fairly.
