Keith Jackson outlines one area Danny Rohl must improve in at Rangers immediately

Keith Jackson believes Danny Rohl must improve further at Rangers if he wants to bring home the Scottish Premier League title this season.

Not many would have expected Rangers to be in a title race this season after the opening few months under Russell Martin; however, Rohl has done a remarkable job after taking over.

Rohl came into Ibrox with a lot of doubters, including Jackson, who has now completed a U-turn on his opinion on the Gers boss.

Jackson has admitted Rohl likely deserves an apology, no matter how this season ends, with his lack of experience being the main factor behind his original thinking.

However, while the journalist admits his error of judgment, he believes Rohl must still improve further.

Where does Keith Jackson believe Danny Rohl needs to improve?

Compared to Martin O’Neill and Derek McInnes, Rohl is a fairly new name in the realm of managers.

The German is just 36 years old, with his only previous experience in a managerial role coming during two years at Sheffield Wednesday.

There is plenty for the Bears boss to learn, and his shortcomings were evident when the G51 outfit dropped points away to Motherwell.

In the end, it was poor judgment from Rohl, who opted to bench multiple of his new signings in North Lanarkshire.

It was those choices that have stood out to Jackson, who believes that title competitors O’Neill or McInnes would not have made the same error.

Jackson said, writing for the Daily Record: “It’s unlikely that McInnes or O’Neill would have made such a mistake, no matter what advice they might have been receiving from the boffins and their laptops in the medical department.

“Rohl simply cannot afford to be so easily persuaded or distracted over the course of the remainder of this epic run-in. Because it will be littered with similar moments and equally difficult decisions.”

Although Jackson admits his previous misgivings about Rohl’s lack of experience have not come true, he still believes that a poor showing of judgement could haunt the Ibrox club this season.

More big decisions for Danny Rohl on the way at Ibrox

As the season comes to a close, Rohl will have plenty more decisions to make, and ones that will have a major impact on the Scottish title race.

On Sunday, the Gers take on bottom-of-the-pack Livingston, and Rohl will simply have to avoid making the same mistake he made at Motherwell. They cannot afford to drop points.

Following that, it is another Old Firm showdown that awaits the 36-year-old.

In their last meeting in January, Rohl got his tactics and decisions spot on as Rangers came from a goal down to win 3-1 at Celtic Park.

However, with O’Neill now leading their Glasgow rivals, it will present a completely new challenge for the German manager.

Jackson has challenged Rohl to develop his judgement, and it won’t be long until he will have to show his improvements.
