Tuur Rommens World Cup 2026 chance rated after Rangers development

Tuur Rommens could make the Belgium squad for the 2026 World Cup after his move to Rangers in the winter transfer window.

Belgium Under-21 head coach Gill Swerts believes the left-back may be in contention to make Rudi Garcia’s team for the summer tournament if some other players get injured.

Nicolas Raskin is already part of the Red Devils’ setup, and now there may also be eyes on the defender’s performances due to the midfielder.

The 22-year-old seems to have an outside chance of making the national team squad, and fans in G51 will feel he should definitely go after his performance in the 4-2 win against Hearts at Ibrox, with his Sofascore graphic below highlighting his impressive performance.

Nicolas Raskin nailed on for World Cup dream after Rangers form

Raskin had a tough start to the season under Russell Martin after an apparent falling out with the former Southampton boss.

The midfielder has been influential in the Gers’ turnaround under Danny Rohl at Ibrox, with the William Hill Premiership title now up for grabs.

With the 24-year-old already putting in some standout displays for Belgium in recent months, it will be surprising if he doesn’t make the 2026 World Cup squad.

Speaking to the Daily Record on 17 February, Swerts said, “Could he make Rudi Garcia’s World Cup squad? Depending on injuries, then yes. He has a few competitors in his position. But in football, you never know. Playing for Rangers, I think you stand out more for the national team than being a player for Westerlo, with all due respect.”

The Belgium Under-21 boss added, “But I do think it’s also positive for Tuur that Nico Raskin is already a Red Devil. Of course, the coaches from the first team will be looking at Nicolas, if they see Tuur doing well, maybe he will get his chance.”

If Rommens continues to perform at a certain level at the Glaswegian outfit, he will undoubtedly get his opportunity for Belgium in the near future.

Another Ibrox signing knocking on door for international debut

Rohl seems to have found the perfect formula in the midfield with Raskin and Tochi Chukwuani.

The former Sturm Graz star has played in the number six position, giving the Belgian star license to play further forward, and his Sofascore graphic below shows the impact he’s had in Govan.

With the Denmark Under-21 international using his physicality and strength to good effect in Glasgow, Brian Riemer will surely be thinking about giving the 22-year-old his first senior cap for the national side.

With the Light Blues’ Scottish contention also in line to play at the 2026 World Cup, fans in G51 are looking forward to the tournament.
