Rangers surely destined for the title after what Steve Clarke said about Celtic panic

Rangers could be on their way to the Scottish Premiership title this season.

The Gers started the season terribly, but have managed to climb back up the table thanks to the work of Danny Rohl.

Under the German, things have been massively different, and now the Light Blues are just two points off Hearts in top spot.

That comes after Sunday’s 4-2 win at Ibrox that sent the Govan club back ahead of Celtic after their last-gasp 3-2 win against Kilmarnock.

Even with that win at Rugby Park, Steve Clarke still has concerns which could see alarm bells ring for Martin O’Neill and Co.

Steve Clarke fears for Celtic after Kilmarnock win

The Hoops have won five in a row across all competitions and are totally unbeaten since they lost the Old Firm 3-1 in January.

They managed to come back from 2-0 down and steal three points against Killie, sparking wild scenes in the away end.

There have been some suggestions that the win was that of a champion having won despite being far from their best.

That isn’t in the mind of Scotland manager Steve Clarke, who remains concerned about what he’s seen from the Hoops this season.

Celtic have conceded 26 league goals this season and seven in their last five, and it is that factor that Clarke has expressed worry about on Sky Sports.

He said: “Everybody knows me as a coach, I’m pretty hot on good defending. I think for any team to be champions, you need to be solid at the back, and you need to make sure you don’t concede goals.

Today, every time the ball went forward, Celtic panicked. There seems to be a nervous part of the game, a nervousness about how Celtic defend.

Rangers can take confidence from Celtic failings

There is no doubt that the title is still Hearts’ to lose at this stage, with the Maroons sitting two points clear at the top of the tree.

The Gers are hot on their tail, and after the 4-2 win, there is every chance that Derek McInnes’ side struggles from here.

If Celtic are also unable to continue their recent form, especially with conceding so many goals, they could also drop away.

Rangers will be hoping that they can build a true push for the title, especially if Chermiti performs as he did against Hearts, as showcased by Sofascore.

The striker could kick on and push his side on to Scottish Premiership glory, but it will also depend on the situations away from Ibrox.

If Clare is right, it is surely the perfect chance for the Gers to get their hands on the title.
