James Tavernier gets Rangers wish as footage emerges after Hearts win

James Tavernier has felt every emotion possible this season with Rangers.

The Gers captain watched on from the bench for the mostpart as his side secured a massive 4-2 win against Hearts on Sunday.

He got on with just over half an hour remaining and helped Danny Rohl to see out a much-needed three points in the Scottish Premiership title race.

The right back didn’t pick up a goal involvement but was involved in positive passages of play and was on the pitch when Youssef Chermiti scored his third goal of the evening.

That sparked some hugely wholesome scenes at Ibrox that were a farcry from what was going on earlier in the season.

Dujon Sterling may have started the game, but it is clear to see that the skipper didn’t take the decision from Rohl personally.

Tavernier waited for his chance to get on the pitch and made a positive impact down the right, helping secure three points.

The Englishman had previously come under fire for his attitude and for maybe contributing to such a negative atmosphere in G51.

Those sorts of rumours have drifted away in recent weeks and will certainly vanish after Tavernier celebrated with Chermiti after the Hearts win.

Post-match footage has been shared that shows the defender pushing the hattrick hero in front of the Govan faithful to celebrate with them.

The supporters were singing his song, based on Shakira’s Waka Waka, and Tavernier wanted the forward to get involved after weeks of negative opinions surrounding him.

Tavernier previously called out his teammates at Rangers

You’d never know with this Rangers side that just months ago, the levels of toxicity were totally off the charts.

Russell Martin was partially to blame for that, but his players certainly had to shoulder some of that after plenty of shocking performances.

Tavernier wanted his teammates to take accountability back in October as he called them out after Rangers lost 3-0 to Brann in the Europa League.

He said: “It’s just a disgraceful performance, it’s as simple as that.

All the years I’ve been here, the consistency of poor performance that we’re putting in, I’ve not experienced it before.

It seems that the level of frustration at Ibrox has faded away, and he finally has a positive team and dressing room atmosphere surrounding him in G51.
