Youssef Chermiti has been torn to shreds – and it will be music to Ryan Naderi’s ears at Rangers

Ryan Naderi has started his Rangers career in positive fashion.

Naderi joined Rangers from Hansa Rostock in January and already has two goals to his name for the Light Blues.

They both came in the 8-0 win over Queen’s Park at Rangers, but outside of that, he has only featured across 58 Scottish Premiership minutes.

Danny Rohl is only likely to hand more minutes to Naderi as time goes on and he continues to acclimate to football in Govan.

That is especially the case after Youssef Chermiti came under fire once again after such a frustrating season with the Gers.

Youssef Chermiti slammed for Rangers failings

The Portuguese forward came in from Everton over the summer, but has never looked like an assured asset for the Bears.

There is little confidence surrounding the forward, so it is genuinely a surprise when he actually gets on the scoresheet.

That was especially the case in the Old Firm clash away at Parkhead, where he found the net in a 3-1 win at the beginning of January.

The 21-year-old hasn’t scored since that day and hasn’t really looked like doing so, something which represents a massive concern in Govan.

That has been echoed by Gordon Dalziel on the Open Goal podcast, as he took aim at the forward once again.

He said: “Chermiti, how he’s a centre-forward is beyond me.

I’m watching him, and I’m thinking, ‘you don’t even look like you’re going to score, you’re just hoping, you’re crossing your fingers and hoping’.

Ryan Naderi given boost as Chermiti struggles continue

The Ibrox faithful aren’t shy in sharing their frustration towards Chermiti, but it hasn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

He didn’t score one goal for Everton in two years, so why he was brought in is pretty baffling.

Naderi’s signing was equally as confusing, considering he came from the third tier of German football, but he had at least netted eight in 18 games this season before his move.

As the public sentiment towards Chermiti continues to slip further, that will only be good news for the winter signing, who will want more minutes as time goes on.

He is now likely to be challenged more by Bojan Miovski, so it will be interesting to see who Rohl backs to thrive in G51.
