Kris Boyd shares what Danny Rohl will fume at after Rangers draw vs Motherwell
Danny Rohl won’t be happy about Rangers being disjointed before conceding against Motherwell in the William Hill Premiership on Wednesday.
The Gers travelled to Fir Park on 11 February and took an early lead after Mohamed Diomande’s exceptional pass to Nicolas Raskin, who found the back of the net.
Jens Berthel Askou’s side kept the pressure on the Light Blues as they dominated most of the proceedings and eventually got the equaliser in the 89th minute through Stephen Welsh.
The Celtic loanee beat Jack Butland after the Glaswegian outfit failed to defend a ball into the box despite clearing the initial corner.
Rangers lose concentration after set play vs Motherwell
Rohl and his coaching staff have been getting plenty of praise for improving the Gers’ prospects from set-plays, but the players had a lapse in concentration towards the end at Fir Park.
Kris Boyd believes the German manager won’t be happy about the Ibrox side’s disjointed defending from the corner kick in the build-up to Motherwell’s equaliser.
As soon as the ball went out of the box, the Light Blues failed to apply pressure on Sam Nicholson, who put the ball back into a dangerous area, and the hosts eventually scored.
Speaking on Sky Sports on 11 February, Boyd said, “Rangers were all disjointed from the set-play. Plenty of praise over the period of time since the set-play coaches came in, not only attacking but also defensively. It was one that will really, really anger Rohl tonight.”
Hearts have now extended their lead at the top of the table to five points as the Glaswegian outfit dropped three crucial points in North Lanarkshire.
The former Sheffield Wednesday boss has a massive game coming up against Derek McInnes’ team on 15 February at Ibrox, and it’s surely a must-win for the Govan club if they want to keep pace with the Jam Tarts in the table.
Danny Rohl must make two attacking changes vs Hearts
Youssef Chermit and Djeidi Gassama had little impact against Motherwell and deserve to be dropped to the bench.
The Portuguese striker, in particular, wasn’t clinical enough at Fir Park, which ultimately cost Rangers two valuable points.

As for Gassama, Rohl tried to switch him to the left-wing after an underwhelming display on the right in the opening 45 minutes, but he was substituted after 74 minutes, where he struggled to create much.
Ryan Naderi and Andreas Skov Olsen are the obvious replacements in the attack for the Light Blues against Hearts, but it remains to be seen what team Rohl will go with.
