Danny Rohl surely set to backtrack on winter transfer target after what happened vs Motherwell
Danny Rohl has come under fire for his Rangers starting line-up in the 1-1 draw against Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday.
Rangers’ title hopes were dealt a huge blow as they conceded a late equaliser when the hosts were down to 10 men.
Ryan Naderi and Andreas Skov Olsen joined Rangers in the winter transfer window, but neither of them started against Jens Berthel Askou’s side.
Youssef Chermiti came under intense scrutiny for his performance, but he wasn’t the only attacker who failed to turn up at Fir Park.
Tawanda Maswanhise goes missing in Rangers vs Motherwell
Motherwell striker Tawanda Maswanhise has been linked with Rangers consistently after his brilliant start to the campaign.
The Fir Park outfit were clear that they weren’t going to let him leave mid-season, although a move to Ibrox in the summer could certainly be on the cards.
The Zimbabwe international has scored 18 goals in all competitions this season, but he was unusually quiet against the Bears.
Maswanhise had the fewest touches (22) of any outfield player to play 90 minutes, and he failed to have a shot on target in the game.
Although he hit the woodwork in the 28th minute, he didn’t have much of an impact on the match.
Maswanhise had a night to forget, and it may change Rangers‘ transfer strategy in the future.

The Bears definitely need a new striker that can bring more to the team than Chermiti and Bojan Miovski, but that might not be Maswanhise.

Danny Rohl has to rethink signing Maswanhise
The 23-year-old has performed above expectations all season, but there are question marks over what he has done in the big games.
He hasn’t scored against Rangers or Celtic this season, and the Bears will need a number nine who can step up in the big moments.
Rohl still has a lot of work to do before he can be judged on his time in Govan, but he needs to get his recruitment spot on.

Andrew Cavenagh has given him a war chest in the transfer market, and although the new signings have impressed in different spells, it’s clear that he still places a lot of faith in the players who were brought in by Russell Martin.
While Maswanhise’s stats this season are nothing short of fantastic, going for a forward who has proven himself to be a big-game player would be smarter.
The Bears need experience throughout their team, and because the Motherwell striker hasn’t got that yet, signing him in the summer could be a mistake.
