Andrew Cavenagh has £10m Rangers regret after Djeidi Gassama reveal vs Motherwell
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises will surely be breathing a sigh of relief as Danny Rohl has turned things around at Rangers.
While the Gers will be disappointed to drop two points against Motherwell in the William Hill Premiership on 11 February, they’re still within touching distance of table-toppers Hearts.
The German manager started with Djeidi Gassama on the right-wing at Fir Park, with the Light Blues taking a quick lead through Nicolas Raskin.
Despite the Glaswegian outfit’s initial flurry at Jens Berthel Askou’s team, the hosts dominated most of the proceedings, and eventually scored an equaliser in the 89th minute through Stephen Welsh, even though they were down to 10 men after Lukas Fadinger’s red card.
Djeidi Gassama commitment in question after Rangers draw vs Motherwell
Monaco were interested in signing Gassama for £10million in the winter transfer window, but the Gers rejected the offer.
It’s clear that Rohl sees the former Sheffield Wednesday winger as an influential part of his plans to win the league title at Ibrox, but the forward has to do better to keep his place in the starting lineup.
The 22-year-old was on the pitch at Fir Park for 74 minutes, registering an xG of 0.05 and xA of 0.04 and had a 78 per cent passing accuracy.
While one must acknowledge that Motherwell dominated possession and didn’t allow the Light Blues to build any momentum, the French forward arguably didn’t seem too bothered about putting in a defensive shift, as shown in the Sofascore graphic below.

Gassama shouldn’t be expecting any favours from Rohl as the Glaswegian outfit look to keep pace with Hearts in the William Hill Premiership.
The German manager now has Andreas Skov Olsen at his disposal, and if the former Sheffield Wednesday star continues to struggle, he may lose his place in the team.
Andrew Cavenagh will hope for Djeidi Gassama transfer repeat
If Gassama continues to put in consistently underwhelming performances until the end of the season, the Gers will be lucky to find another buyer willing to pay £10m.
Cavenagh will surely regret not accepting Monaco’s offer, as the French attacker has shown signs of slowing down after a promising start to his career at Rangers.

Rohl will undoubtedly have to make some tough calls if he hopes to win the William Hill Premiership this season, and one of the decisions could potentially include dropping Gassama.
Fans in G51 are frustrated with consistently poor displays from the young winger and want to see the German manager give Skov Olsen and Oliver Antman more opportunities in the coming weeks.
