What Barry Ferguson wants Rangers to tell Tottenham for Mikey Moore loan return

Rangers are arguably the perfect place for Mikey Moore to develop further after his loan from Tottenham.

Barry Ferguson wants the Gers to highlight their European pedigree and the pressure at Ibrox to convince Spurs to send the 18-year-old back for next season.

Moore has come into his own at the Light Blues after initial struggles at the start of the campaign, and he’s now become a key player for Danny Rohl.

The German manager has afforded the English youngster a free role in the final third, which has only helped him thrive.

Mikey Moore will get regular minutes at Rangers

Moore can continue his development at the Gers, and he’s already showing signs of growth.

Tottenham will surely get a player with a ton of first-team experience, playing in a high-intensity league in Scotland, if they let the young forward stay at Ibrox for the 2026-27 season.

It will undoubtedly be in the North London outfit’s interest to see their prospect continue to shine in Glasgow and challenge for important silverware.

Speaking on Five Stars VIP on 10 February, Ferguson said, “I’d be on the phone and saying to them, I know he’s a big part of your plans, but he’s only 18. We can help with his development. Give him to us for another year. That’s what I’d be saying because he will play a lot of football.”

The Gers icon added, “And what you get back at that stage, you’ll get an experienced young player who’s had experience in Europe, he’s played in big games, he’s played under pressure and he’s at one of the only clubs where the demands and expectations are through the roof. And it can only help his development as a young player.”

Moore has made 20 appearances in the William Hill Premiership for the Govan side this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists, and has certainly been their most creative outlet in recent weeks.

Mikey Moore return would mean end of one player at Ibrox for next season

Moore’s importance in Rohl’s plans has meant that other forwards have had to bide their time for opportunities at the Gers.

Rangers have sent Findlay Curtis out on loan to Kilmarnock until the end of the season, and the Scottish youngster may have to continue in East Ayrshire next season if the Tottenham loanee stays in G51.

The 19-year-old has shown he can be the next big thing to come out of the Light Blues’ academy, but opportunities were hard to come by for him under the German manager at Ibrox in the current campaign.

While fans in Govan will certainly welcome Moore’s return, it could potentially force Curtis to look for another move in the summer.
