Rangers fans will be delighted with Thelo Aasgaard team news for clash vs Motherwell

Danny Rohl has rung the changes for Rangers as they look to boost their Scottish Premiership title hopes with a win over Motherwell at Fir Park.

Off the back of Rangers’ 8-0 demolition of Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup, the Glasgow giants have turned their attention straight back to league action.

After Hearts’ 88th-minute winner against Hibernian in the Edinburgh derby on Tuesday evening, Danny Rohl’s side are now six points off top.

The Gers must now close the gap to three points once again in order to keep the pressure on Derek McInnes’ side, and one player in particular has been left out the starting lineup.

Thelo Aasgaard dropped, Danny Rohl makes 7 changes

Rangers signed Thelo Aasgaard from Luton Town in the summer, but the midfielder has struggled to settle into life at Ibrox.

Despite managing eight goal contributions across all competitions, Aasgaard has underwhelmed on far too many occasions.

Rohl has clearly lost his patience with the Norway international, as he dropped him to the bench for the clash against Motherwell.

The German boss made seven changes in total from the team that beat Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup, as all the regulars came back in.

Jack Butland replaced Liam Kelly in between the sticks, with both John Souttar and Jayden Meghoma reinstated into the backline.

Nicolas Raskin came into the midfield, with Rohl opting for Djedi Gassama, Mikey Moore and Chermiti as a front three.

Along with Kelly, Dujon Sterling, Tuur Rommens, Andreas Skov Olsen, Oliver Antman, Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski all dropped to the bench.

Rangers fans will be loving Danny Rohl’s decision

Rangers fans have been calling for Rohl to drop Aasgaard for some time now, and the former Sheffield Wednesday boss has finally granted their wishes.

Gers supporters feel that the attacking midfielder simply doesn’t bring enough to the team.

With Aasgaard dropping to the bench, Rohl has opted for a packed midfield of Raskin, Tochi Chukwuani and Mohammed Diomande.

However, other areas of the team may raise question marks, including the decision to drop Rommens, who looked very impressive in the Scottish Cup.
