Derek Ferguson in shock before ‘phenomenal’ Nicolas Raskin moment in Rangers draw vs Motherwell
Nicolas Raskin came in clutch to help Rangers avoid conceding in the first half against Motherwell in the William Hill Premiership on Wednesday.
Fir Park hosted the Gers on 11 February, having conceded just once in their previous 11 league games.
However, the Light Blues broke the deadlock early on, with Raskin finding the back of the net in the sixth minute.
The Belgium international was pivotal on the other end of the pitch for the Glaswegian outfit at around the half-hour mark, clearing the ball off the line after a set-piece for the Steelmen, but 10-man Motherwell eventually scored a late equaliser in the 89th minute through Stephen Welsh in the 1-1 draw.

Rohl must’ve been proud to see his team open Motherwell’s defence up, with Mohamed Diomande’s pass exceptional to set up the opener.
Hearts won 1-0 against Hibernian just around 24 hours before the game at Fir Park kicked off, giving the Ibrox side the impetus to get the three points to keep the pace with the table toppers.
Despite the Light Blues doing well in the opening moments of the fixture, it was the Steelmen who controlled the opening 45 minutes and had a brilliant opportunity to score in the 29th minute.
Stephen O’Donnell’s shot into the ground found its way to the back post, and Raskin somehow managed to flick it way right off the line in a heart-in-hand moment for the Glaswegian outfit.

It’s clear to see that Rohl emphasised defensive solidity from his team as he must have surely been aware that the home side would dominate possession, as they have done brilliantly under Jens Berthel Askou this season.
Danny Rohl surely can’t keep relying on one player at Ibrox
Youssef Chermit has undoubtedly been an underwhelming signing for the Gers since moving from Everton for £8million last summer.
The 21-year-old had the chance to double the lead for Rangers after an error from the Motherwell defence in the first half, but his shot was straight at the goalkeeper.

Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski started on the bench, and while Rohl said pre-match that he didn’t want to take a risk with some of the players, it’s clear the Portugal Under-21 international isn’t good enough.
If the German manager truly wants to take Hearts all the way in the William Hill Premiership, he can’t keep relying on Chermiti up front.
