Danny Rohl’s eureka Rangers moment to be tested vs Motherwell, it could change everything

Rangers’ winter transfer dealings may have given Danny Rohl the keys to bring success after all this season.

The Bears brought in the likes of Andreas Skov Olsen, Tochi Chukwuani, and Tuur Rommens over the window in a push to secure the Scottish Premiership title.

Rangers have been rapidly improving under Rohl, and the optics are looking good for the Gers to pip Hearts late on in the campaign to claim the title.

The recruits have given the Bears another lift, but perhaps Ryan Naderi’s deadline-day Ibrox arrival was the one that could have the biggest impact in this final stretch.

Rangers are set to play Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday, and Naderi could be about to prove his worth in more ways than one.

Ryan Naderi gives Danny Rohl a two-striker formation option

Rangers smashed Queen’s Park 8-0 on Sunday in the Scottish Cup, as Naderi grabbed a brace on his full debut for the Bears. He showed brilliance in the air and an ability to drop deep and link up play with his teammates.

Unexpectedly, the free-hit nature of the game against Queen’s Park could have been Rohl’s best chance to experiment for the Gers before a crucial run of fixtures.

That’s exactly what the German head coach did, as Naderi played alongside Bojan Miovski in a two-striker formation.

Although the Bears were playing an opponent that was clearly of a lesser quality, it just seemed to click, and Rohl may have thought he could use this philosophy in the league.

Especially when considering the fact that Motherwell have the best defence in the division, having only conceded once in their last six games in all competitions. But it would clearly be a much bigger test for the tactical switch-up.

Rangers are going to have to find a way past Jens Berthel Askou’s defence, and going for two up top could throw the Steelmen off.

How Youssef Chermiti can be more useful off the bench for Rangers

Rohl has confirmed that Youssef Chermiti is available to play Motherwell, along with Emmanuel Fernandez, who will both be big boosts for the Bears.

Fir Park has proved to be a difficult place to go to this season, and the Gers will need all of their best players fit to come away with three points.

Chermiti has had his critics this season, and rightly so, but now it may be the perfect time for him to act as an option from the bench for the foreseeable future.

Though he can display good feet and passing at times, the 21-year-old rarely gets himself into games fast enough. However, in scenarios where the Bears are chasing a win, Chermiti’s physical presence and power could be game-changing from the bench.

Naderi looks the real deal, and dropping Miovski would be harsh, so this could be the way forward for Rohl and Rangers.
