James Tavernier flawless as 9/10 pure livewire – Rangers player ratings vs Queen’s Park
Rangers breezed into the Quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup after a 8-0 mauling of Queen’s Park on Sunday.
Danny Rohl’s side hosted Championship outfit Queen’s Park in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup, and it’s fair to say the Bears didn’t hold back.
Ryan Naderi‘s first Rangers goal gave Rohl’s side the lead early on, heading home from a corner, as a James Tavernier hat-trick then followed before Matthew Shields’ own goal added a fifth in a first-half romping.
Rohl started with a strong team against Queen’s Park, and decided to use all of his five substitutes in the second 45, with Naderi’s second alongside Bojan Miovski and Tochi Chukwuani’s goals topping off a splendid Ibrox spectacle.
James Tavernier breaks personal best record for Rangers vs Queen’s Park
To put it simply, Tavernier’s performance against Queen’s Park was stupendous. The Gers were constantly on the attack, and it resulted in the right-back finding himself taking up advanced positions in Queen’s Park’s half.
Tavernier’s hat-trick consisted of a cool finish after a cross from Mohamed Diomande, a goal straight from a corner kick, and one from the penalty spot.
Not only that, but he provided an assist for Naderi’s first goal in blue and white, as the skipper may have been unlucky not to have had a second setup to his name after Shields put the ball into his own after a corner.

Tavernier’s highest total of goal contributions in one single match for the Bears was previously three in games against the likes of Ross County and Aberdeen.
However, after putting his penalty past Calum Ferrie this time, as opposed to last season in the Scottish FA Cup, the Englishman hit four goal contributions in one game for the first time in his Rangers career.
Ryan Naderi announced himself to the Ibrox faithful with performance to remember
Rangers splashed out £4.75million to sign Naderi before additional add-ons, as the German’s arrival has been met with high expectations.
The striker was handed his first start versus Queen’s Park, and was able to show Ibrox what he was all about.
Naderi was aggressive in the box, always looking to get on the end of crosses, and showed his power in the air with both of his goals.
Rohl robbed him of his hat-trick after taking the number nine on 61 minutes, but he can look forward to Rangers’ game against Motherwell on Wednesday.
