Dujon Sterling torn apart after what ‘lazy’ Rangers star did vs Queen’s Park

Rangers were looking to avoid a repeat of their horrific loss to Queen’s Park on Sunday, as they met again in the Scottish Cup.

Philippe Clement was quickly dismissed following that, with Barry Ferguson and Russell Martin following the Belgian at Ibrox.

Now, it was over to Danny Rohl, who has already surpassed the achievements of nearly all three of his predecessors.

There were no such troubles this time around at Ibrox, with Ryan Naderi scoring his debut goal and James Tavernier adding two amongst five first-half goals.

But not all in blue left the first half with pass marks.

Dujon Sterling called out in Rangers rout

Dujon Sterling has had plenty of injury issues this season again, but he recently returned ahead of schedule at Ibrox.

Rohl selected Sterling, the heart of defence against Queen’s Park on Sunday, with his skill on the ball likely a reason why.

But, speaking live on Premier Sports, Alan Hutton was far from impressed with what he saw from the former Chelsea starlet.

“Sterling has to do better,” Hutton said when a long ball went to nobody.

“He’s too lazy on the ball, just tries to chip it forward, and it rolls out of play.”

Danny Rohl magic continues

There is no fear of upsets under Rohl; that is what he has instilled into this Rangers team already.

The same cannot be said under the management of Clement and Martin, especially, who consistently struggled against the so-called lesser teams.

Whilst one eye may be on the Scottish Premiership title after the remarkable league turnaround, why not target a domestic double?

Rohl would put himself ahead of several recent Rangers managers within months, something that would leave Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers delighted.

With huge games against Motherwell and Hearts coming up next, Sunday was all about taking zero risks against a Queen’s Park side clearly capable of upsets.

Those two could decide who wins the Scottish Premiership title, so the likes of Sterling will need to be much better if they want to make a big difference in those games.

Rangers aren’t stopping anytime soon, and the second half could become even uglier for Queen’s Park, who won’t be getting another fairytale this time around.
