Rangers get slice of luck in deal for player who could fire Danny Rohl’s side to title
Rangers got some important transfer business done in their bid to win the Scottish Premiership.
In the first half of January, Rangers signed Sturm Graz star Tochi Chukwuani to bolster Danny Rohl‘s midfield options.
Not long after, Rangers recruited Wolfsburg’s Andreas Skov Olsen on loan, while Tuur Rommens joined from Westerlo as well.
To finish the window on a high, Rangers brought in striker Ryan Naderi from Hansa Rostock on deadline day, as Rohl’s plea to add some quality in attack was answered.
Now, more details about the 22-year-old German’s move to Ibrox have come to light ahead of Rangers‘ Scottish Cup clash with Queen’s Park on Sunday.
Rangers luck out in pursuit of Ryan Naderi
Rangers wanted Ryan Naderi at all costs. Many phone calls, rounds of talks and tough negotiations with Hansa followed. For Naderi and his agent, it was an emotional rollercoaster ride.
As confirmed by the player’s agent Laurent Burkart, in an interview with Ostsee Zeitung on Saturday, Naderi was informed by his agent to turn off his phone on Sunday night as a deal looked unlikely.
However, Naderi checked his phone at 3:30am when unable to sleep and saw a missed call from his agent, which put the wheels in motion to get the Rangers deal done before that day’s deadline.
“Fortunately, Ryan picked up the phone. I was surprised because I had briefed him that he should turn it off and be ready from 6am,” Burkart said.
Youssouf Chermiti had been impressing in the weeks prior, but for large portions of the season, he was not playing up to par, making the move for Naderi all the more important.

Ultimately, the Gers got their man in the end, and Naderi impressed in his short cameo against Kilmarnock.
Ryan Naderi will surely start vs Queen’s Park
Naderi was not up to speed yet to start against Kilmarnock, but the cup tie against Queen’s Park presents the ideal chance for him to stake his claim and show his qualities.
Rangers head into the match as heavy favourites to win, with their opposition last in Scotland’s second tier. There will be a big gulf in quality between the two sides.
A fixture against a side of that level is excellent for Naderi to get to terms with Scottish football and begin to integrate into the Bears squad even more.
If he can make a positive impact and even get himself on the scoresheet, it would be a huge positive for the player and a real confidence booster.
Rangers will need their new signing on top form if they want to win the Scottish Premier League.
