Ben Foster completely out of order over Rangers and Celtic claim made live on air
Rangers, Celtic and Hearts are all playing their part in what is shaping up to be a truly classic Scottish Premiership title battle.
Rangers beat Kilmarnock 5-1 at Ibrox on Wednesday to reaffirm their credentials in the title race.
Danny Rohl is doing an excellent job at Rangers, and his side sit just three points behind league leaders Hearts and three points clear of third-placed Celtic, who have a game in hand.
Rangers are performing well under pressure, and Rohl is in a good position to lead them to their first Scottish Premiership win since 2020-21.
This is the most exciting football Scotland has seen over the past 25 years, but Ben Foster believes that they still couldn’t lay a glove on teams from England.

Rangers and Celtic wouldn’t compete in the Championship
Rangers made it to a European final in 2022, but apparently they wouldn’t be able to compete with clubs in the second tier of English football.
Speaking live on talkSPORT on Friday, Foster said he believes both Old Firm clubs wouldn’t succeed in the Championship.
He said: “I still think that if you put Rangers and Celtic in the Championship today, I definitely think they wouldn’t get promoted.
“Especially with the teams they currently have.”
It’s a laughable claim, especially given how big Rangers and Celtic’s fanbases are.
Celtic and Rangers’ rivalry would not only attract more viewers to the Championship, but it would also heighten the pressure on other teams to succeed.
The quality of players and the financial disparity between Scotland’s big two and the teams in the Championship is frightening, and that couldn’t be made clearer by the job Rohl did at Sheffield Wednesday.
Danny Rohl’s record at Sheffield Wednesday shows how out of touch Foster is
After being hired by Sheffield Wednesday in October 2023, Rohl managed to secure them another season in the second tier of English football by finishing 20th in the table.
He then led the Owls to a 12th-placed finish in the 2024-25 Championship season.
This was all amidst a backdrop of unrest behind the scenes with former owner Dejphon Chansiri.
| Stat | Sheffield Wednesday |
| Games played | 46 |
| Wins | 15 |
| Draws | 13 |
| Losses | 18 |
He ran the club into the ground by not paying staff and players on time, and not offering any support towards recruitment.
The fact that Rohl managed to lead them to a top-half finish in those circumstances is remarkable, and speaks not only to his ability, but also to the level of the other teams in the division.
Now imagine how he would do with his current squad in Govan, which has undergone heavy investment.
There is no doubt that both Rangers and Celtic would get promoted with relative ease.
