49ers show serious intent as Rangers make offer that can’t be refused for goals ace

Rangers were very active in the winter transfer window as they tried to build a squad capable of winning the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers are currently locked in a fierce battle at the top of the table, aiming to claim their first title in five years.

Rangers beat Kilmarnock 5-1 at Ibrox on Wednesday evening to move within just three points of league leaders Hearts.

New signing Ryan Naderi came on to make his debut for Danny Rohl’s side in the second half, and more information about his switch to Ibrox has now emerged.

Rangers gave Hansa Rostock no choice in Ryan Naderi move

Rangers brought in Ryan Naderi on deadline day, signing the young attacker from Hansa Rostock for £5.2million.

It was initially thought the Gers would have to wait until next summer to bring in the goals ace, but instead it was agreed he could join now and help with this intense title battle.

The 22-year-old had scored eight goals in 18 league appearances for the third-tier German outfit in the 2025-26 campaign before he was snapped up by Rohl’s side.

According to Rostock sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh, Rangers first made contact regarding Naderi over four weeks ago, expressing their interest in the forward.

Speaking to Ostsee Zeitung, Shapourzadeh revealed that Rostock initially had no intention of letting the German leave during the winter window, but they couldn’t refuse the Gers’ final offer.

He said: “It was insane how dynamic the whole thing was. It started back in the summer and then just kept gaining momentum from December until the final deadline day.

“A lot of clubs called. I can’t even say exactly when each club contacted us. It must have been about four weeks ago when we got a call from Glasgow [Rangers], who expressed interest in the player. We initially brushed that off.

“Rangers then sent us an offer with two scenarios: a winter transfer and a summer transfer. We stuck to our position of not wanting to let the player go in the winter until last Sunday afternoon, when things took a completely different turn.

“They presented figures that you, as a third-division club, simply can’t refuse.”

Rangers in superb position after transfer intent

Ahead of the winter transfer window, it was clear that the Rangers squad needed heavy reinforcements if they were to have any chance of challenging for the Scottish Premiership title.

The Gers hierarchy delivered, with Rohl receiving four new signings that strengthen his side for the latter stages of the season.

Hearts have been superb in recent months, but after picking up just four points across their last three games, they are beginning to falter.

Both Rangers and Celtic are closing in, and Rohl’s side now have the depth required to launch a real challenge.

It remains to be seen if the Gers can go all the way, but their desire to get deals over the line in the winter window have left them in a superb position.
