Tuur Rommens gives Danny Rohl new Rangers problem after what he did vs Kilmarnock

Tuur Rommens was magnificent as Rangers swept Kilmarnock aside with a 5-1 victory.

Rommens made his Rangers debut in the clash, having not previously featured since signing for the Govan club due to ankle injury.

He was not named in the starting line-up for the contest, but he did come on to finally make his bow in front of the Ibrox faithful.

Danny Rohl has a dilemma on his hands after what the former Westerlo defender did against Neil McCann’s side.

What did Rommens do in Rangers win over Kilmarnock?

Rommens proved why the Gers were willing to spend that much money on his services as he made his first appearance.

The 22-year-old recorded an assist, as he teed up Oliver Antman for the fourth goal, which put the Light Blues absolutely out of sight.

Despite coming on with 25 minutes to go, the Belgian star had 27 touches and made two key passes in the contest.

He had an 89 per cent pass accuracy, completing 16 of the 18 that he tried, and also created two big chances, as shown in the Sofascore graphic below.

He was not as impressive defensively, winning one of the three duels that he attempted, but that did not matter as his attacking numbers were so impressive.

What problem does Rohl now have?

The issue at hand for Rohl is whether he can afford not to play Rommens over Jayden Meghoma.

Given his showing against the Rugby Park outfit, he deserves to start at the left-back position, as he offers a similar level of threat, and he is the Gers’ own player.

However, the manager will want to keep him fit, so his problem is how often he gives Rommens time on the pitch as he makes his comeback from injury.

They should prioritise their new number 25 as he is not another club’s asset, but they may not be able to, due to the question marks over his fitness.

Only time will tell whether Rommens can shake the problems and make himself a fixture in Rohl’s side over his competition for the spot.

It is a nice issue to have, and feels like a world away from the Light Blues’ worries in the first half of the season.
