‘Mad’ Rangers claim made live on Sky Sports after what fans did with Danny Rohl
Danny Rohl has Rangers fans believing they could win the Scottish Premiership title.
Rangers are firmly in the title race after beating Kilmarnock 5-1 at Ibrox on Wednesday.
The Bears invested heavily in the winter transfer window, with Ryan Naderi and Tuur Rommens both making their debuts against Neil McCann’s side.
Rohl is doing an excellent job at Rangers, and his side sit three points behind league leaders Hearts and three points ahead of Celtic.
And it’s safe to say the German head coach has exceeded expectations, but supporters have been reminded that they hadn’t initially placed much faith in him.

Danny Rohl has surprised all Rangers fans with how well he’s done
Rangers are aiming to win the league for the first time since 2020-21, and they’ve put themselves in a good position with the players they’ve signed.
Rohl has played a big part in the recruitment process, and the early signs from the new arrivals certainly look promising.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on 5 February, former Southampton striker Charlie Austin highlighted how supporters were sceptical of his appointment.
He said: “Go back to when Rohl took over, and now we’re having a conversation about a three-horse title race.
| Rangers | Stat | Kilmarnock |
| 69% | Possession | 31% |
| 28 | Shots | 8 |
| 3 | Big chances | 1 |
| 2.84 | xG | 1.35 |
| 89% | Pass accuracy | 74% |
“There are so many more twists and turns to go, and that’s why I think it’s making Scottish football much more exciting, rather than it just being Celtic and Rangers every year.
“Hearts and Celtic both have to come to Ibrox, and it’s mad, given that when he came in, the club was in shambles. A lot of fans didn’t want him, but the job he has done has been unbelievable.”
When Rohl was appointed, Rangers were in the bottom half of the table and had won just one of their first seven league games.
They’re in a completely different position now, and huge credit must be given to Rohl for picking up the pieces from Russell Martin’s disastrous spell in charge.

Of course, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it can’t be forgotten how bad Rangers were under Martin.
Rangers fans can’t be blamed for doubting Rohl
The first argument from some fans at the time was that Rohl didn’t have sufficient experience to succeed in Govan.
He led Sheffield Wednesday to a 12th-placed finish in the 2024-25 Championship season, but his CV ends there.
Although that was an impressive achievement, fans were worried they’d be seeing a repeat of what happened with Martin.
Trust in Andrew Cavenagh and Kevin Thelwell was at an all-time low, and there was an incredibly toxic atmosphere in G51.
Hiring a manager who hadn’t experienced a job of this magnitude seemed unwise, and if Rohl had begun poorly, it could have been the end for Cavenagh.
However, Rangers supporters will gladly admit that they have been surprised by their head coach, and they’ll give him even more praise if he manages to achieve something remarkable come May.
