Youssef Chermiti sends message as Rangers exit now officially confirmed

Rangers were busier than most in the winter transfer window.

Despite the window closing in Scotland on Monday evening, there were still some parts of the squad that needed clearing for Danny Rohl.

NEC Nijmegen announced the signing of Danilo on loan on Tuesday evening, with the Dutch deadline staying open until 3 February.

Rabbi Matondo is still another Rangers player who could leave Ibrox, although the Welsh winger would likely become a free agent.

As for Chermiti, he lives to see another day at Auchenhowie.

Rangers green-light Danilo exit after transfer frenzy

With Rangers signing Ryan Naderi from Hansa Rostock on deadline day, the door was always open for another attacker to leave.

Thankfully, with the extended time available in other countries, Danilo was able to find a suitable location and return to the Netherlands, where he has shone before.

Chermiti took to Instagram after the exit was announced, sharing a red heart under the signing announcement on his stories.

Attention will quickly turn to Rangers home game against Kilmarnock on Wednesday, though, with a real chance to cut the gap again.

Hearts falter in Scottish Premiership again

Derek McInnes will likely be tearing his hair out at Tynecastle right now.

Hearts once again suffered a red card as they lost 1-0 at St Mirren on Tuesday, with sending-offs appearing to dominate their games in recent weeks.

It means that Rangers and Rohl can go three points behind the table toppers, who could start to buckle under the pressure slowly increasing from the Old Firm.

Celtic can do the exact same in their trip to Aberdeen, but that won’t be an easy evening in the freezing conditions sweeping across Scotland right now.

With the Scottish Cup returning on Sunday for the Bears against Queen’s Park, that may be the best time to rotate the squad, as three points against Kilmarnock is all that matters right now.

That means it is up to the likes of Chermiti to find his form again, with the Portuguese youth international given more than enough chances up top.

It won’t be Danilo, though; he’s moving on.
