Ryan Naderi detail causes amazement after Rangers transfer announcement

Ryan Naderi has signed for Rangers, and Danny Rohl will be hoping the forward can push his side up the table to win the league.

The Gers are six points off Hearts, who lead the Scottish Premier League, with rivals Celtic also on the same amount of points as the Bears.

It certainly looks to be a tight battle for the title, and the arrival of Naderi should, in theory, help Rohl’s side score more goals.

With the German signing this winter window, it has meant Danilo has left Rangers. And the transfer of the now former Hansa Rostock man has amazed a former Scottish footballer.

Alan Rough ‘amazed’ at Ryan Naderi to Rangers

Naderi’s transfer to Rangers is a gamble, and that is largely down to the 22-year-old being inexperienced at the high end of football.

The striker has spent all of his career so far in the lower tiers of football, particularly the third and fourth tiers of the German system.

On paper, the signing of Cameron Archer would perhaps have come with less risk, and that high risk with Naderi has left Alan Rough ‘amazed’, but for all the wrong reasons.

Speaking with PLZ Soccer, Rough said: “I’m amazed at where this boy is coming from.

“I’m not saying he won’t be a top-class striker, but you would be thinking if he was a top-class striker, he would be playing in the first tier.”

Eyes will certainly be on Rohl’s lineup against Kilmarnock, and if Naderi is handed a start the first time of asking.

However, if he is not in the starting lineup, his next chance will surely come in the Scottish Cup tie against Queen’s Park on Sunday.

Naderi will hope to follow in Jorg Albertz’ footsteps

While he was a midfielder, Jorg Albertz was the last outfield German player to don the blue strip and have success in it. Albertz is considered a legend around G51.

Nicknamed ‘The Hammer’, he played 191 times for the club, scoring 69 goals and assisting a further 19. Additionally, he left the club with a plethora of trophies won.

During his time at Ibrox, Albertz won three Scottish Premier Leagues, two Scottish Cups, and two Scottish League Cups.

That included a treble of trophies in the 1998-1999 season. If Naderi can end his time at Rangers with a similar cabinet, then that would be amazing within itself.

There are certainly previous suggestions that Germans can work out at the G51 outfit, so let’s see if the striker can shake off the preconceived notions about his abilities in top-flight football.
