Rangers have ongoing Nicolas Raskin exit fear despite January rebuff

Nicolas Raskin’s exit from Rangers cannot be ruled out, even after the Scottish window has closed.

Rangers had a very productive winter transfer window, with four new players arriving at Ibrox and six players departing.

Tochi Chukwuani has been the star of those who have made the move to Glasgow, having impressed in every game that he has featured in so far.

However, despite the window having officially closed for Rangers to bring players in, foreign windows remain open, and it could spark fear over the future of Raskin.

Besiktas could make new approach to sign Nicolas Raskin

Raskin has been one of Rangers’ most crucial players over the last 12 months, and that hasn’t changed under the stewardship of Danny Rohl.

However, that importance has come at a cost, with the Belgian midfielder often linked with a big-money move away from Glasgow.

Tottenham were courted with an interest in signing Raskin, as were Besiktas, and with the Turkish transfer window still open, the Gers can’t rest assured quite yet.

Raskin turned down a move to Besiktas in January, having made it clear that he would only leave Rangers to join a club competing within the top five leagues.

However, with the Turkish outfit prepared to give him a healthy wage hike, an exit can’t be ruled out entirely.

Besiktas have until 6 February to conclude their winter business.

49ers know exactly what to do with Raskin

Rohl has Rangers in the title race, and while their latest goalless draw with Hibernian served as a blow to their chances, the arrival of Ryan Naderi has improved that.

Rangers’ needed a goalscorer, and based on his time with Hansa Rostock, Naderi may prove to be exactly that.

However, Raskin is just as influential to the Light Blues’ title charge, and if the 49ers are serious about reaching their ambitions in Glasgow, any offer outside of the Scottish window has to be rebuffed, no matter what.

The summer window could provide a different opportunity for his future at Ibrox, but for now, that door has to remain barricaded shut if the Gers are to achieve success.
