Chris Jack reveals the truth about Rangers signing Jens Hjerto-Dahl as exciting speculation emerges

Jens Hjerto-Dahl’s summer transfer to Rangers may not be all that certain after all.

During the winter transfer window, Rangers were linked with Tromso star Hjerto-Dahl but a deal never came to fruition.

Weeks before the window slammed shut, Rangers plucked for Sturm Graz star Tochi Chukwuani to bolster their midfield, and the young Norwegian faded into the background.

While Rangers are currently trying to win their first Scottish Premiership title since 2021, reports suggested they were already eyeing up summer signings.

Norway Under-21 international Hjerto-Dahl, 20, appeared to be one of them but may no longer be the case.

Cold water poured on Jens Hjerto-Dahl’s Rangers transfer

On Tuesday, after the Scottish winter transfer window had shut, reports suggested Rangers were primed to sign Hjerto-Dahl this summer, with even his wage package being agreed.

However, according to Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack, the two teams have not reached an agreement over a summer transfer for the 6ft 4in midfielder.

The report adds that no offer has yet been made, but he will remain “under consideration” by Danny Rohl’s side.

Jack stresses that Hjerto-Dahl is “not a front-runner” to head to Ibrox ahead of next season and that the addition of Chukwuani led to Rangers deciding against a second midfield signing.

The youngster was “first identified” by Rangers as a possible recruit last summer and while he is on their radar, a move doesn’t appear to be imminent.

Will Rangers’ new signings fire them to title glory?

After a six-game winning run in the league, Rangers were somewhat brought back down to earth with a fortunate goalless draw against Hibernian on Sunday.

Hibs had the better chances and felt hard done by to only come away with a point, while Rangers looked toothless in front of goal.

The Scottish giants have been outscored by league leaders Hearts, second-placed Celtic, and fifth-positioned Hibs this season – which may be a cause for concern.

While it is not always a guarantor of success, goals are an important part of a title-winning recipe. Hearts, for instance, are leading the way there.

Rangers signed striker Ryan Naderi on deadline day, with many fans hopeful that the big German can fire them to title glory in the coming months.

But Rohl will need his new signings and the rest of his squad to step up if they are to haul in Hearts, who are six points clear.
