All four Rangers winter signings rated – Tochi Chukwuani already shining as 5/10 has to overcome doubts

Rangers made a big splash in the winter transfer window to bolster Danny Rohl’s squad.

Rohl has the Ibrox side in the middle of a Scottish Premiership race, six points off league leaders Hearts in third place.

The 49ers Enterprises Group and Andrew Cavenagh, the Gers’ majority ownership, have spent £23million trying to help their side to edge their rivals.

Only time will tell whether it works out or not.

Tochu Chukwuani already looks like a Rolls-Royce

Tochi Chukwuani was Rangers’ first signing of the window, and he looks set to be a raging success already in Govan.

The 22-year-old Danish star was brilliant in the 0-0 draw with Hibernian last time out, and offered the physicality that Rohl’s side have been lacking so far this season.

The Sofascore graphic below shows his impact in that contest, and if he can maintain that level of performance, an eight out of 10 rating does not seem like an overexaggeration.

The £4.3m fee that the Light Blues spent could turn out to be a bargain as he is already shining.

Tuur Rommens has not had much success

Rommens was the Gers’ second signing of the winter, but he has not featured since joining in a £3m deal.

He has been sidelined with an ankle injury, sustained before his move, and is expected to be back in February at some point.

For that reason, he is awarded a four out of 10, as he has not been able to show what he can do for the Glasgow giants yet.

There is excitement about what he can do, as he was highly rated by former Gers assistant manager Issame Charai at Westerlo.

Andreas Skov Olsen could be a masterclass

Andreas Skov Olsen was the third addition for the Bears, a high-profile winger that should help Rohl’s side to unlock defences, on a loan-to-buy deal.

The Dane is not exactly prolific in front of goal, but his creativity is a major asset, although he has not shown it in his first two league appearances.

He is yet to contribute with a goal or assist for the Light Blues, but he is still finding his feet after a limited amount of football this season with Wolfsburg.

If he can get up and running, he could be crucial in the Gers’ chances of lifting the championship in May, so for that reason, he is awarded a six out of 10.

That rating is a result of the fact that the deal is a loan with the buy option, as if he does not perform, the Gers are not stuck with him, and if he does, they can get him in for a decent price.

Why Ryan Naderi signing is a major risk

There will inevitably be doubts over Ryan Naderi‘s ability to make an impact in the top-flight of Scottish football.

He notched eight goals in 18 appearances for Hansa Rostock, but that is the third tier of German football, so he could find the jump to a higher level difficult.

He has something to prove, and that could go either way, the 22-year-old could thrive under that pressure or crumble, it remains to be seen.

At the moment, he is handed a rating of five out of 10.
