Rangers agree seven-figure package for Ibrox exit with deadline day transfer next

Clinton Nsiala looks set to kickstart deadline day for Rangers.

Rangers drew 0-0 against Hibernian on Sunday afternoon for a disappointing point at Easter Road, but transfer dealings didn’t stop in the background.

Nsiala will join KVC Westerlo on loan for the remainder of the season, with a medical set for Monday, alongside his contract signing.

Tuur Rommens moved the other way to Ibrox from Westerlo, with the Belgians set to take the Frenchman in return before the 2 February deadline.

Rangers details emerge as Clinton Nsiala exit agreed

Chris Jack and the Rangers Review have reported that there is an option to purchase Nsiala permanently in the loan deal.

The defender never really got a look in after signing from AC Milan, failing under Philippe Clement, Russell Martin and now Danny Rohl.

It is said that any permanent move would cost £1million in the summer, with Nsiala set to reunite with former Ibrox coach, Issame Charai.

With Rangers already spending over £7m this winter, it appears as though there will be more outgoings than arrivals before the 7:00 pm deadline.

Where did it all go wrong for Clinton Nsiala?

Nsiala will famously be remembered for being taken off after only 30 minutes by Barry Ferguson, as he started his interim spell with a win.

Rangers were two down at Rugby Park against Kilmarnock, but came back to win 4-2 in February 2025.

After that, things were never the same.

When Martin arrived over the summer, Nsiala was set for a move to Ukraine, but that was eventually pulled with the obvious difficulties around any logistics.

The defender has only appeared three times in the Scottish Premiership this season, with 49 minutes of action clearly not enough to impress.

John Souttar has returned from injury, and with Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez also in reserve, it is time to start clearing the squad.

In the past, Rangers have taken far too long to cut ties with certain players, letting them take up valuable space and wages, but that appears to be the case no longer.
