Rangers table six-figure bid to sign Hakim Sahabo as agreement now made official

Rangers made an offer for Standard Liege midfielder Hakim Sahabo.

Rangers have already added three players with Tochi Chukwuani, Tuur Rommens and Andreas Skov Olsen, but they still want more.

Danny Rohl still needs bodies in the engine room, with the likes of Jens Hjerto-Dahl and Dan Neil being linked, but the latter has moved to Ipswich Town on loan.

The Rwandan was another option, and the Ibrox side have history of signing a midfielder from the Belgium club.

Hakim Sahabo bid submitted by Rangers, official agreement emerges

Nicolas Raskin signed for Rangers from Liege, but there will not be a repeat of that this time, as the Light Blues have been beaten to a deal.

A report from Belgian outfit Sudinfo on 29 January claims that the Gers tabled a six-figure offer, below £866,000, and the response was that it was not good enough.

It states that the 20-year-old is heading to AEK Athens, with an official agreement reached over a £1.3m fee.

All roads lead to Hjerto-Dahl for Rangers

Surely, all roads lead to Hjerto-Dahl for the Gers at the moment after their plans to sign Sahabo were nixed.

There is only a limited amount of time left in the window, they have followed him for a while, so they know what he will bring to the squad.

The Bears have lacked a cutting edge and a steel in the engine room this season, and the 6’4 Norweigian would bring that in abundance, which would only help Rohl’s side in their push for the Scottish Premiership title.

He has a price tag in the region of £3.5m, but that would be a solid investment given his experience in the top-flight of his home country, where he already has 75 appearances, suggesting that he could adapt to Scottish football.

The recruitment team have shown a willingness to pick up gems, and in this window especially, to go for Scandinavian talents, and Hjerto-Dahl could be the next one to rock up at Ibrox, as the ownership look to prove they are backing Rohl.

Unless there is a rabbit up their sleeve, a player who has not been linked yet, it seems like the obvious move for the Govan side to make, to pick up the 20-year-old and conclude their business.
