Rangers given fresh timeline on Elliot Watt transfer in crushing new update
Rangers’ winter transfer business is expected to go down until the final day of the window.
The Bears have been active this month, and Danny Rohl has welcomed three new additions to his side.
Andreas Skov Olsen, Tuur Rommens, and Tochi Chukwuani all offer the German head coach something different, but the Gers won’t stop there for incomings.
Rangers have been linked with Ryan Naderi of Hansa Rostock in recent days, with Danilo’s Ibrox exit also hanging in the balance.
However, Rohl has kept his eye on Motherwell’s Elliot Watt, and the Bears may not give up in their attempts to sign the midfielder.

Rangers to go back for Elliot Watt transfer in 2026
Joe Rothwell could be leaving Ibrox before Monday’s deadline, with multiple clubs in the queue to sign the former Southampton star.
The Bears’ midfield has been one area that Rohl wanted to improve heading into January, and Watt was shortlisted as a transfer target.
But the 25-year-old’s recent injury issue may have thrown a spanner in the works for any imminent move to Glasgow.
- Watt picked up a muscle injury at the start of January
- He had four goal contributions in two games before the setback
- Watt is expected back in February, but may not be able to complete a medical right now
According to the Daily Record on Thursday, Rangers‘ interest in Watt remains, but the midfielder’s recent injury has derailed a move this month.
The Bears have been tipped to sign the midfielder in the summer, when they will be able to reassess their options in the middle of the park and decide whether further additions are needed.

As highlighted by Sofascore, Watt averages a staggering 7.76 rating, which beats Rangers’ best-rated player, Emmanuel Fernandez, at 7.30 by some distance.
Watt’s contract details may attract Rangers
Chukwuani’s arrival has shaken up the midfield picture for Rohl, as Nicolas Raskin could be set for the partner he’s always dreamed of in the middle of the park.
The ex-Sturm Graz man impressed on his debut against Dundee, but there’s still a long way to go for the 22-year-old to prove himself at Ibrox.
| Contract expiry | Market value |
| 31 May 2027 | £430,000 |
Watt’s contract with Motherwell expires on 31 May 2027, as the Bears could look at stealing the creative maestro on a cut-price deal.
It feels like a transfer story that isn’t done just yet, as Watt is a player whom Rangers will most likely keep tabs on for a while longer.
