Joel Piroe transfer: Rangers race to sign Leeds star reaches conclusion

Paraag Marathe has put Leeds United striker Joel Piroe on the table for Rangers in the winter transfer window.

There have been reports of the Ibrox hierarchy being close to signing Piroe on loan, with the Gers’ negotiations to sign Hansa Rostock striker Ryan Naderi dragging on.

In the current campaign, the Suriname international has struggled for game time in the Premier League after finishing as the EFL Championship’s top goalscorer last season.

It isn’t surprising to see the Glaswegian outfit being linked to the 26-year-old, given their connection to 49ers Enterprises, who own the West Yorkshire outfit, but that relationship may not lead to an agreement after all.

Rangers move ruled out for Joel Piroe

Piroe doesn’t see the Gers as an option if he leaves Leeds before the 2 February deadline, according to Joost Blaauwhof.

The Voetbal international journalist took to X on 30 January and dismissed Ibrox as a potential destination for the former Swansea forward.

With the Light likely out of the running to sign the Suriname international, they will surely have to look for alternative targets.

Danilo looks set to join NEC Nijmegen on loan, leaving Danny Rohl with just Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski as the two natural number nines.

It will be interesting to see who the Glaswegian outfit will now target, considering Hansa are making it challenging to facilitate Naderi’s exit midway through the season.

The situation in G51 is undoubtedly one to keep a close eye on as the German manager’s prediction of a “crazy” end to the window could come true.

Danny Rohl right to pursue new transfer at Ibrox

Rohl wants to sign Hansa striker Naderi, and it’s clear to see why after Youssef Chermiti’s stinker in Portugal against Porto in the Europa League on 29 January.

The 21-year-old was nowhere to be seen and barely had any impact during his time on the pitch in the 3-1 defeat.

Miovski came on as a substitute in the second half, but the North Macedonia international had similar struggles against a quality Porto side.

The Europa League campaign has made it clear that the Glaswegian outfit have a long way to go before they can be competitive again against the big sides, and the Sofascore graphic surely paints a picture of who they should sign between Naderi and Piroe.
