Alan Hutton loves what Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers have done in new Rangers transfer claim

Alan Hutton predicted more movement from Rangers in the winter transfer window while they were losing to Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.

Danny Rohl’s team travelled to the Estadio do Dragao on 29 January, with the Gers getting beaten 3-1 despite taking the lead early on.

Findlay Curtis and Djeidi Gassama combined in the sixth minute to score against the Portuguese club, but the Light Blues crumbled soon after.

With the Glaswegian outfit out of the European competition, all the focus at the will now surely be on closing the gap at the top of the table in the William Hill Premiership, and the Govan side’s hierarchy are clearly making sure the German manager has all the tools to pull it off.

Rangers bold after rejecting transfer offers for Youssef Chermiti and Djeidi Gassama

Hutton has been impressed by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises for backing Rohl in January.

The former Scotland international believes that interest in the Ibrox side’s players midway through the season demonstrates the quality they possess.

Hutton is certain there will be more incomings and outgoings at the Light Blues before deadline day, but has urged them to reinforce the squad for the German manager.

Speaking during commentary on TNT Sports on 29 January, the ex-defender said, “I think it tells you a lot about the squad and where they’re at this moment in time. When there are bids coming in for your players, it’s because they’re playing regularly at a certain level, and what I actually like is they’re not entertaining it.”

Hutton added, “The hierarchy understand that Rohl wants to build a team that’s going to compete year in, year out. If you want to do that, you have to keep your best players. Do I think there’s going to be movement before the window shuts? Absolutely. But you need to add quality.”

Youssef Chermiti and Djeidi Gassama could’ve possibly brought in £23million at Ibrox, after offers from Fenerbahce and Monaco, respectively, but the Glaswegian outfit decided to turn down the bids.

Danny Rohl priorities evident after loss vs Porto

Hansa Rostock striker Ryan Naderi wants to move to Rangers and has submitted a transfer request to make it happen.

The Gers can’t waste time with Deadline Day just around the corner and should push to make a deal happen for the 22-year-old German attacker after Chermiti and Bojan Miovski’s lacklustre display against Porto.

Rohl must also have seen the lack of defensive solidity without John Souttar, and bringing him on in the second half brought some semblance of stability to the Glaswegian outfit’s backline.

A quality number nine and centre-back should be on the Light Blues’ agenda, but only time will tell whether they’ll get more deals over the line before the 2 February deadline.
