Derek Ferguson makes Rangers case as James McFadden confused by transfer development
James McFadden can’t believe Rangers didn’t accept £13million from Fenerbahce for Youssef Chermiti in the winter transfer window.
Fenerbahce were said to have lodged a bid for Chermiti, but the Gers were determined that the striker isn’t for sale in January.
Djeidi Gassama was also attracting interest from Monaco, but once again, the Light Blues turned down £10m for the French youngster.
With the Glaswegian outfit presented with an opportunity to make a big profit after signing the attacking duo last summer, they are seemingly prioritising their greater good until the end of the season.

Rangers want squad harmony as Youssef Chermiti no for sale
Derek Ferguson believes the Gers don’t want to upset the squad dynamics by selling Chermiti midway through the season.
The former Light Blues midfielder feels that with Rohl gunning for the William Hill Premiership title, sanctioning the departure of a seemingly popular figure inside the Ibrox dressing room may have had adverse effects.
However, McFadden doesn’t think the Glaswegian outfit should’ve rejected the chance to make a significant profit on the Portugal Under-21 international, who hasn’t really lived up to expectations so far.
Speaking on Open Goal on 29 January, Ferguson said, “Oh, by the way, what’s happening there? It’s not just what he offers on the park at the moment, I think it’s off the park as well because there’s a good feeling about the place, a togetherness. He seems to be quite a popular big fella. Why would you try and upset that? They’ve got a chance at winning the league, and everyone acknowledges that now.”
McFadden added, “If that’s right, it’s £13m, I’m really surprised they’ve not taken it. I get he’s a good lad. I get he’s a project, and you bring him in to try and sell him on. But if you’ve bought a guy for £8m who’s not going to guarantee you goals at this point in time, he might further down the line, and you get a chance to profit on that, I’d be taking it.”
There has been another claim that Fenerbahce aren’t really interested in Chermiti, and all the talk was generated by the 21-year-old’s agent, but the Govan side arguably made a bold call if they did dismiss a big-money offer.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises surely can’t be serious at Ibrox after latest decision
Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie is close to joining Hellas Verona for around £6m despite the Gers registering an interest in him a few weeks back.
Rangers could potentially have reinvested the money from Chermiti’s sale to sign the Scottish centre-forward, who has proven himself in the William Hill Premiership this season.

Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have surely made a big mistake at Ibrox if they decided the Portuguese forward wasn’t for sale and subsequently missed out on Bowie.
Fans in G51 will hope the American owners, who’ve backed Rohl so far, have something special up their sleeves before the 2 February deadline.
