Chris Sutton teases more Rangers signings ahead of ‘massive’ developments around Ibrox
Chris Sutton has suggested that Andrew Cavenagh isn’t quite ready to stop spending for Rangers in the winter transfer window.
The 49ers have already backed Danny Rohl in the January window through the signings of Andreas Skov Olsen, Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani.
The German head coach was asking for more additions heading into this month, and so far, Cavenagh has delivered.
Rangers play Dundee FC at Ibrox on Sunday in a crucial game for themselves, but the Bears will also be keeping a keen eye on what happens at Tynecastle Park.
Sutton has suggested that gameweek 23 of the Scottish Premiership is “massive” with Celtic and Hearts’ clash proving important to the Gers’ chances of winning the league title.

Chris Sutton suggests he expects more Rangers signings
Rangers have been tipped to sign one more major player with just over a week remaining in the window.
The Bears have been shooting up the league table since Rohl‘s arrival, and the feeling around Glasgow is that the new additions will help Rangers get over the line.

While speaking on Sky Sports Scotland on Sunday, Sutton claimed that Celtic could destroy their season with a loss to Hearts, as he expects Rangers to maintain form.
Sutton said: “Today [Sunday] feels absolutely massive because if Hearts do beat Celtic, it’s going to be difficult for Celtic to retrieve their season.
“I think Rangers have got a good chance. You can see the belief growing week in week out. They have done their January work sharply, three in already, and there may be more coming in at Rangers. They seem to be a club who are really organised.”
The Bears have shown how hard they are to beat under Rohl already, but he needs to make sure it’s wins and three points every time from here on out.

Who could Rangers’ big signing be?
It’s not known how much the 49ers and Cavenagh are still willing to splash on extra transfers, considering the money already spent in recent weeks.
Although Skov Olsen’s Ibrox switch was a loan deal, the Bears still need to keep finances safe in case they wish to trigger his buy option at the end of the season.
Rangers have been heavily linked with Sunderland’s Dan Neil in the past couple of days, and the Premier League star could be the missing piece for Rohl.
- Neil has made three appearances for Sunderland in the Premier League
- Has only managed 13 league minutes under Regis Le Bris this term
- Neil played 47 times in the Black Cats’ promotion-winning season last campaign
Whether he would be the only incoming or not remains to be seen, but the midfielder would certainly be in the bracket of a ‘marquee’ signing.
It’s an exciting time to be a Rangers fan, and this weekend could be another turning point, a chance for the Bears to overtake Celtic and charge towards Hearts.
