Rangers told ‘quality’ forward could be theirs before window closes – on one condition

Rangers still have issues to address in the winter transfer window.

Rangers are on a seven-match winning run in all competitions after beating Ludogorets Razgrad 1-0 in the Europa League at Ibrox on Thursday.

Although Danny Rohl is doing a brilliant job at Rangers with a team that isn’t even his, he’ll be desperate to add a number nine to the squad.

The signing of Andreas Skov Olsen for Rangers is exciting, although the Gers definitely need more firepower in attack if they want to win the Scottish Premiership title.

And journalist Keith Jackson believes it is very likely that the Bears will sign a new striker before the deadline on 2 February – on one condition.

Rangers can sign another striker if they can sell Danilo

Danilo was on the periphery of Russell Martin’s plans at the start of the season, although that briefly changed when Rohl was appointed.

However, the 26-year-old has now failed to start a match since mid-December, and Rangers have made it clear that he has no long-term future in Govan.

Speaking on the Daily Record Hotline Live on 22 January, Jackson said that if Danilo can be sold, it paves the way for a new addition up front.

He said: “I think it’s highly likely Rangers will sign a striker this window. If they want an out-and-out striker, it will all depend on whether they get Danilo off their books.

“Whether it’s creativity, a number nine, or another wide player, they’ll definitely be looking to add quality in the final third.

“Rangers have a lot to be positive about, but it’s clear that they are not the finished article.”

Danilo joined Rangers for £6million in July 2023, having notched 14 goals for Feyenoord the season before.

However, the Brazilian has not been consistent, and although no clubs are immediately linked with him, his departure looks imminent.

Rangers need more from Bojan Miovski and Youssef Chermiti

Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski should count themselves lucky that they are still a part of Rohl’s plans, given their inconsistencies this season.

Danny Rohl has placed little faith in Miovski, awarding him just two starts in all competitions since his arrival on 22 October.

The North Macedonia international is a hindrance to Rangers in possession, and his movement off the ball hasn’t been good enough.

Similar to Miovski, Chermiti has often struggled, although his brace in the Old Firm derby on 3 January has certainly bought him some leeway with the fans.

The Portuguese striker still has a lot to prove due to his £10m price tag, and a new signing could give him the motivation to step up his performance levels up front.

Rohl has a lot of issues to address at Ibrox, and he needs to be able to count on his starting striker for the big games if Rangers are able to have a successful season.

That’s why if Danilo can be moved on, then a new frontman with high ambitions could join the Light Blues.
