Derek Ferguson reacts to what he’s heard about Rangers transfers, one signing definite

Rangers are expected to make a few more signings after completing a move for Andreas Skov Olsen in the winter transfer window.

Skov Olsen was presented at Ibrox before the Annan Athletic game and subsequently saw his new teammates win 5-0 in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup’s fourth round.

Tochi Chukwuani made his debut against the William Hill League Two club, while fans in G51 will have to wait to see Tuur Rommens in action.

Danny Rohl has hinted at a marquee signing at Ibrox before the 2 February deadline, and the Glaswegian outfit’s supporters will have a keen eye on developments in the coming weeks.

Rangers needs new striker and centre-back in January

Derek Ferguson believes that a new number nine should be signed at the Gers in January.

The former Light Blues midfielder has heard rumours of additional arrivals at Ibrox soon, and wants to see more attacking and defensive reinforcements.

Rohl confirmed John Souttar will be out injured for a while, but it remains to be seen how much more money the Glaswegian outfit are willing to spend.

Speaking on Open Goal on 22 January, Ferguson said, “There’s talk out there that he’s bringing in a few others.” When asked who the Gers need to sign, he added, “Striker definitely. And they’ve got to go and get a centre-half because you just heard the news that Souttar picks up a wee injury again.”

Youssef Chermiti, Bojan Miovski and Danilo have struggled to score consistently this season, making the addition of a reliable goalscorer sensible in G51.

While Derek Cornelius will return from the sidelines soon, the defensive personnel have been one of the Govan side’s main concerns this season.

Ibrox double exit to open doors to Danny Rohl success

Danilo has been transfer-listed at Ibrox, and it looks like the Gers are open to his sale after the Brazilian striker’s failure to convince Rohl.

Clinton Nsiala is another player who could leave Rangers in the coming weeks, but only if a new defender is signed.

Once Danilo and the French centre-back leave, the Light Blues may replace them with quality signings in their respective positions.

If Rohl does end up getting a reliable number nine and a capable centre-back, then success in the William Hill Premiership will surely be much more attainable.
