Hibernian brace themselves for Kieron Bowie bids as Rangers told what it’ll take

Rangers look set to face competition for in-demand Hibernian star Kieron Bowie.

The Scottish forward joined Hibernian from Fulham in 2024 and since then he has impressed at Easter Road, while earning his first caps for his country.

That form has led Rangers to consider a move for Bowie, who has scored eight goals in 27 games for Hibs this season.

If recruited, he could join Rangers’ marquee loan signing Andreas Skov Olsen at Ibrox, as the Gers try and haul in Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts.

Conversely, Rangers are trying to move players on this month after agreeing to send Findlay Curtis on loan to Kilmarnock and Lyall Cameron to Aberdeen. But whether they sign Bowie is up in the air.

European interest to rival Rangers’ Kieron Bowie pursuit

In the Daily Record’s print edition on Thursday, it’s reported that Hibernian figureheads are bracing themselves for ‘big money bids’ across Europe for Bowie this month.

Wolves have been keeping tabs on Rangers target Bowie, and now the report states that the 23-year-old is on the radar of clubs in Italy, Germany and Belgium.

Rangers wanted to sign Bowie in the summer but it seems a European move is ‘looking most likely’. Wolves scouts reportedly watched Bowie impress in Hibs’ derby win over Hearts but there has been no club-to-club talks.

Record add that Hibernian will only sell the Scotland international, whose contract expires in 2028, if they get ‘top dollar’.

Considering that Rangers are still trying to offload players to free up funds for head coach Danny Rohl in the transfer market, it remains to be seen how much the Scottish giants are prepared to offer for Bowie.

But reports suggesting they may be gazumped by European interest may be a cause for concern for the 49ers Enterprises. It seems an intriguing last 10 days or so of the transfer window are in store.

Who will Rangers move for if they can’t get Bowie?

If Rangers do miss out on Bowie, there are plenty of other names out there they could sign before the window slams shut.

For instance, Rangers have been trying to bring in Sunderland’s Romaine Mundle but that is proving difficult.

Elsewhere, Rangers are closing in on the loan capture of Borussia Monchengladbach forward Tomas Cvancara as they seek to add more firepower up top.

Conversely, Rangers summer signing Joe Rothwell could be sold to bring in some much-needed cash.

But despite all the interest coming Bowie’s way, pundit Michael Stewart says he would be stunned if Hibs sell their prized asset.

He said earlier this month: “I’d be astonished if Hibs sell in January. And of course, it comes back to if somebody reaches that number, that poses the question.”
