Youssef Chermiti still not safe at Rangers as Danny Rohl striker replacement in the works
Youssef Chermiti’s recent turn in form for Rangers doesn’t mean he will be Danny Rohl’s main man up top come the end of the winter transfer window.
Rangers are in the market for forwards in the winter market, and although Rohl already has his hands on three new additions, the Gers are looking for at least one more.
Andreas Skov Olsen’s Ibrox arrival has added firepower to the Rangers boss’s frontline, and may provide Chermiti with extra chances to put away.
But as already seen in this campaign, the striker isn’t always reliable in front of goal, which may lead to Rohl asking the 49ers for one more favour this month.

Tawanda Maswanhise would be a big upgrade on Youssef Chermiti
Chermiti’s terrific brace against Celtic almost made every Gers fan take back every bad word they ever said about Kevin Thelwell’s summer signing.
The young forward has taken his time to settle into life at Glasgow, and that may hurt his future prospects with the Bears.
- Rangers signed Chermiti from Everton for £8million, possibly rising to £10million after add-ons
- He has scored four times in 24 games for the Bears
Rangers have been linked with a move for Motherwell’s Tawanda Maswanhise, with the versatile attacker on sublime form at the moment.

As highlighted by Sofascore, Maswanhise is outperforming his expected goal rate much better than Chermiti is, and proves a consistent, deadly outlet for Motherwell in attack.
The right-winger has occasionally played as a number nine, and there’s more than one reason why he could suit Rohl so perfectly.
Why Danny Rohl can convert Maswanhise into a central striker
At Sheffield Wednesday, Rohl had a mix of number nines. He had target men in Michael Smith and Callum Patterson, but also mobile forwards in Jamal Lowe and Ike Ugbo.
Sometimes the German opted to play Josh Windass as a second striker, which is something he could also do with Maswanhise, but his main quality is being able to score goals.
Maswanhise is a poacher, and all 10 of his goals in the Scottish Premiership this season have come inside the opposition’s box.
If the Bears were to push for Motherwell’s star this month, Rohl would most likely try utilise Maswanhise up top at some point, given his love for Djeidi Gassama at the right-wing spot.
Chermiti now has a limited window to keep scoring before it’s too late, as Rohl could very well put his foot on the gas to land Maswanhise.
