What Andreas Skov Olsen did behind the scenes to become priority Rangers target

Rangers presented Andreas Skov Olsen as their latest winter transfer signing before beating Annan Athletic 5-0 in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup on Friday.

Wullie Gibson’s team travelled to Ibrox on 17 January, with Bojan Miovski scoring a hat-trick, while Kieran Dowell and Thelo Aasgaard also got on the scoresheet, with the latter bagging a magnificent free-kick.

Skov Olsen is Danny Rohl’s third addition in Govan, with the loan deal including an option to buy for around £8.6million.

The Glaswegian outfit have had their eyes on the Denmark international since his time at Club Brugge, and have now finally gotten a deal over the line for him.

Rangers pushed for Andreas Skov Olsen deal after positive signals

Skov Olsen was “very keen” to join the Gers in January, which encouraged them to pursue a deal, according to The Rangers Review.

The news outlet reports on 17 January that once the Light Blues received encouragement from the 26-year-old’s entourage, he became the sole focus at Ibrox.

It’s been claimed that as soon as the Glaswegian outfit made first contact with the Danish national, they were confident they could get a deal over the line.

Skov Olsen seems to have made a massive effort to switch Wolfsburg for Govan, and fans in G51 will hope he can now live up to his expectations.

Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens were also presented at Ibrox alongside the 40-cap Denmark international, with the former Sturm Graz midfielder going on to make his debut.

Skov Olsen could fill the void left by Vaclav Cerny, but only time will tell whether he’s good enough for Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises to pull the trigger on the significant buy option in the summer.

Andreas Skov Olsen transfer opens door for another Ibrox exit

Lyall Cameron has joined Aberdeen on loan until the end of the season, and the Scottish midfielder certainly needed a change of scenery after falling down the pecking order under Rohl.

Oscar Cortes has also been sent on his second loan stint this season to Huracan, and several other exits are surely on the cards at Rangers.

Fringe players like Clinton Nsiala, Joe Rothwell, Kirena Dowell and Findlay Curtis started against Annan, and some of them surely put themselves in the shop window after a decent display.

The 19-year-old Scotsman was magnificent for the Glaswegian outfit while playing on the right-wing, but with Skov Olsen’s arrival, the doors have clearly opened for him to further develop elsewhere.
